Anyone check out any of their releases?! I was in Target this evening and just had to pick up their new release of Halloween II!!
It is everything that Universal's anniversary disc (released just last September) should have been; Two discs, one of which is the tv edit and a new documentary on the making of Halloween II! You can also get Halloween III at Target as well and it to contains a bonus documentary.
As far as I know these are the only two discs from Shout/Scream Factory that you can get at Target but they have plenty more cool horror titles to select from!

I'll have to stop tomorrow and pick up the Blu-rays.
wow! I need to get these as well
I went out and picked up both of these the day I saw this post. They are well worth the money if you love the Halloween series. These were the only 2 movies in my Halloween collection that did not have any special features. The tv version of II is a nice companion piece to the tv version of the original Halloween. Now we just need this kind of special edition for the original Fright Night and Fright Night 2 (I don't even have Fright Night 2 on DVD).
I regularly get Shout! Factory's "Mystery Science Theater 3000" sets. Especially the ones that came with figurines of the 'bots!

same here. I lovethe bonus features.
I picked up Halloween III. Great price, and load with features. Worth the
purchase.
Scream Factory (http://www.screamfactorydvd.com) just released John Carpenter's "They Live!" on DVD & BRD. Upcoming titles include "The Vampire Lovers," "The Town That Dreaded Sundown," "The Incredible Melting Man," and "H.P. Lovecraft's From Beyond."

I can't wait for The Town That Dreaded Sundown
Sweet! I have to get They Live-I love that flick!! The other titles are must-haves as well. I already have the old Midnite Movies double feature disc with Vampire Lovers with a commentary by Ingrid, so I will have to see what the new release has before I double dip. Shout is also releasing the complete series of Ultraseven later this month. Ultraseven was the third and most fans say best Ultraseries. Supervised by the great Eiji tsuburaya, Ultraseven was more than giant hero vs giant monsters, it is a well written serious sci-fi series with more depth of character than usual for kaiju oriented shows. the series is subtitled(there are actually 2 different english dubs, but both are lost) and should look great-it is the same restroed prints Tsuburaya Productions released in japan. the only disappointment is they have not included the infamous banned episode 12. This episode featured a race of aliens that needed to consume blood to replentish their weakend bodies because their planet had a devasting nuclear war. Depicting radiationj survibors as blood sucking monsters did not go over well in Japan and tsuburaya Productions pulled the episode from circulation and it is basically never discussed much less seen. poor quality boots of it show up on youtube, and it was dubbed and included in the second english language version of the show that ran on TNT back in the 90s.
More soon to be released titles from them~
•THE FOG (1980): John Carpenter's seaside ghostly revenge flick with Adrienne Barbeau and Jamie Lee Curtis. New extras are in the works! First time on Blu-ray.
•THE BURNING (1981): Summer Camp. Garden shears. Tom Savini effects. Need we say more? First time on Blu-ray
•THE HOWLING (1981): Joe Dante's ultimate werewolf pic with superb Rob Bottin effects. First time on Blu-ray.
•LIFEFORCE (1985): Tobe Hooper's space vampires and light-show extravaganza finally gets its first ever anamorphic widescreen presentation! First time on Blu-ray.
•NIGHT OF THE COMET (1984): Shopping and zombies highlight this post-Doomsday cult classic. First time on Blu-ray.
•DAY OF THE DEAD (1985): George Romero's splattery undead classic gets a new collector's edition with new extras
I just picked up Halloween III; They had 3 copies left at a local Target and I figured I'd better quit farting around and pick it up before they disappeared! Of the above titles, really looking forward to The Burning and Lifeforce!!!
Still no release date for "The Town That Dreaded Sundown."
Great titles. Shout/ Scream factory is awesome.

I am interested in the Halloween II & III Blu-rays, but I do not want to pay over $20 for them. I am waiting for price drops.

Someone asked on Facebook why Vampire Lovers wasn't getting the dvd treatment and Scream Factory stated, "Vampire Lovers had already been released before on DVD - sporting a good transfer - from MGM as a part of their Midnight Madness double feature series. The decision was made with financial factors in mind."! So bummer to anyone that didn't pick up the Midnite Movie series and isn't interested in Blu-ray!
I'm really glad they choose to go with the 116min (International) cut of Lifeforce on dvd as opposed to the shorter U.S. release, to me it seems like they would have reversed that but apparently the shorter cut is scarce?! If there was something extra in the shorter cut I'd be interested in it (like with the changes added to Halloween II's tv edit) but I really can't see caring about a shorter cut of a film, which only gets further away from the director's original vision; In this films case Tobe Hooper's "director's cut" was 128min long.....would be great to see all that missing footage! I'll definitely be picking up the Blu-ray/dvd combo pack (To bad they didn't just go with a standalone dvd!) in the future!
I may be watching Lifeforce alone. My girl would be comfortable with a certain Woman in the film. Hint, hint. Lol.
Well, I do have the previous DVD release of "The Vampire Lovers". So I guess I can save some money, for once.

You'd think, if nothing else, they'd use a pic from "Dr. Phibes." Just one reason I'm not a big fan of FM3.0 or FM.com.

There are plenty of younger fans out there that are just getting into exploring classic titles, I think those fans and the hardcore "must have every edition" are the main Shout/Scream Factory target audience!! So far I got Halloween II (because it had the tv edit and other special features) to upgrade my barebones edition, Halloween III, Vampire Circus; neither of which I owned before!! I am only interested in their dvd releases which lucky....and unluckily....the Vampire Circus Bluray was a combo pack, which I believe most of their releases are! Sure wish they'd just do individual dvds for all of these!
And I would like to one day pick up their releases of From Beyond, The Burning, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Lifeforce, Terror Train...and any other release that they may put out that I don't already own!
I'll definitely be getting "The Town That Dreaded Sundown."
"Vampire Circus" was a Synapse Films release, BTW.

Well, in their combo pack for "The Town That Dreaded Sundown," the bonus film "The Evictors" is only on the DVD. Otherwise, the rest of the bonuses appear to be on both disks.

Well I really hadn't planned on picking up Scream Factory's release of Day of the Dead (Sept. 17, 2013) but I found it used for $11.99 and figured what the heck....I also couldn't remember if I had this or Dawn of the Dead on dvd already?! FYI, turns out I do not have Dawn of the Dead! Well, I bought it and I figured I'd throw up 2 screen caps comparing this release with Anchor Bay's Divimax release from 2003 for anyone interested! You can also get either of these releases on Blu-ray.
Anchor Bay dvd on top, Shout Factory dvd on bottom~
Presented 1.85:1 theatrical ratio

Presented 1.78:1 (I suppose they did this to remove the very miniscule black bars at the bottom/top of the screen?! It does create picture lose on the left/right side but it is very minor and nothing is going to be missed!)

I'm definitely digging the new transfer and Shout Factory fixed some audio issues that were present in Anchor Bay's (dvd & Blu-ray) edition as well as Arrow's (Blu-ray) editions!
From Dvdtalk.com~
"Audio: Before delving into the technical qualities of Day of the Dead's various soundtracks, it's worth noting that small portions of the dialogue differ from what was heard theatrically. From what I understand, this is because of differences in the audio stems sent to Anchor Bay by the film's licensor rather than any censoring or modifications directly made by Anchor Bay itself. There are apparently six such differences, including voices overdubbed by different actors and brief alterations to language. Lifted from a post from the Home Theater Forum, the changes include:
0:09:15 - "It's crazy" provided by a different voice
0:09:35 - "crap" to "Right"
0:58:48 - Gunshot is partially missing
1:01:33 - "It's the Spic" provided by a different voice
1:11:20 - "Oh, Jesus" to "I can't look"
1:20:30 - "Jesus" to "Stuck"
I'm not certain if that's a comprehensive list or not. Although I'd seen the movie a number of times before sitting down with this DVD, none of the alterations stood out to me, and I'd never have known there was any sort of problem if the topic hadn't inspired such heated discussion on various message boards. The fact that I didn't spot these doesn't make it alright, of course."
I never noticed the differences either until Shout Factory announced their release and I started doing some research on the different editions! For good or bad the one thing that Shout didn't do is upgrade to 5.1/7.1 audio, all you get with their release is the original Mono track....which along with the new transfer I can live with!
The original Anchor Bay Divimax edition was a loaded 2 disc set (there is also a single disc version without all the bells and whistles) but you do get some good supplements with the Shout Factory release. I definitely wouldn't have backtracked and bought the Anchor Bay edition if I already had the Shout Factory release but as is I'm happy to own both; Anchor Bay for the supplements and Shout's for the transfer/supplements!
Tales From The Crypt/Vault of Horror Blu-ray; I know most of us own the MGM Midnite Movie double feature but Shout's will offer the uncut version of Vault. I'm definitely thinking about an upgrade on this one.

Too cool!!!
Oops! It seems that the Tales From The Crypt/Vault of Horror Bluray will be postponed because Shout/Scream doesn't have the uncut Vault of Horror. They are in a desperate search to find an uncut print of the film.
Youtube has an uncut print playing, lol. Seriously though: Sucky news. :'(
