When I saw the first picture of this bust I had to have it. Karloff as Frankenstein is my all time favorite. I have painted him the typical green almost every time I have built a kit but this time I wanted to add a little of Mary Shelley's desciption of the creature; "His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath: his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriences only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips". "I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsive motion agitated its limbs."
The kit is entirely hand painted except for the bronze orbs and white insulator pillars. Everything was painted with a solid base coat and then all details added with pastels. Your comments and criticisms are welcome. I wanted the eyes extremly bloodshot as I have seen in some jaundice patients, it goes well with his yellow sking I think. This is the first time I have hand painted eyes and I think they turned out okay. I have to add some more detailing to the base and then I will call him finished. I added my own touch to a few things on the sculpt just to "make it mine". The kit was a joy to work on thanks to Jeff Yahger's wonderful sculpt and Mark Brokaw's (Earthbound Studios) perfect casting.

Fantastic wok!!! A+++
Excellent. Nice work on the base also. At first I wasn't sure about the name plate but after looking further I like it alot. It looks heavy and lifeless and does not distract from the head itself. Guess I'm used to the bolder colors used on name plates including my own stuff. Going to try your technique out.
Excellent take on the Monster!!
Wow!
The eyes just kill me. If you ever want to sell this, send me a PM. I'll give him a good home with many friends to play with. "Friend good...good!"
Truly wonderful work!
Thanks for all the kind words, I appreciate it.

Beautiful work and an obvious labor of love where you don't mind loving the labor. Or something like that. Give yourself a hearty pat on the back for this!

Top Shelf work, WB. The eyes can make or break a finished piece and you've pulled this one off with
stellar results. I've got 3 large scale busts coming in and you have to treat the detailing/shading a bit
differently. When people look at the finished kits at shows/seminars, etc., I notice the first thing they
look at are the eyes. Again, superb work in every area!
Magnificent melding of the Pierce make-up, Karloff likeness, and Shelley description.
GREAT WORK on this!!!
I really like how you handled the bruising under the eyes!
I too ordered this from Mark (Hope to receive in the next few days!)
Jeff

Great work. I'm a huge Karloff fan myself, and after looking at yours I just had to order one. I hope to get mine in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.
Beautiful paint job...absolutely perfect!
