So check this out...lately my effort in writing a comic book has been about 110% 24/7 and honestly I have gotten ALOT of help collaborating with artists. My local comic book shop has been off the hook with posting things on their facebook which helped. I also wrote in some fan mail to IDW regarding the new KISS comic and actually had a really cool and candid email discussion with editor Chris Ryall. I'm not looking to get "rich and famous" or anything, I just love comics, think my stories are good and would like to see what professionals feel about them. So in the meantime I'm doing some dyi indie stuff.
With that, I started looking up every local comic book related person and making myself known--I live about 35 min north of where Kevin Smith's comic shop "Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash" is, in Red Bank NJ (plus I lived a few towns over for 3 years as a kid).
So I saw they posted on facebook they're looking for guests and I said the hell with it and filled out the application. The application asked if you were looking for particular items, history about the item you may have and "what kind of comic fan are you?".
The very next day I got an email saying "Congrats you made it to the next round" I replied and later that day spoke to the casting director on the phone...come yesterday at 6 PM, live from my bedroom lol, I did a Skype interview with her.
The interview was pretty cool she asked me a bunch of comic questions and then went over what I was looking for--there were a few items but the best story is about a G.I.JOE figue from the 80's cartoon/comic book that I lost and never have been able to acquire since. She was a cool girl and the interview was super candid and we had a few laughs. I also said flat out "I aspire to write and I'd like to meet Mr. Smith" she was cool with that too.
Anyway, normally I'd laugh at the idea of going on tv and I still think it's funny but screw it. It might be fun, I might actually get my G.I.Joe back! And lastly if I get a chance to ask a Kevin Smith for any advice he could give a guy trying his hardest to write...then the whole thing is worth it.
So I'll know in 2 weeks...just thought I'd share!
Crossing my fingers for you BL! I like the show, and I've enjoyed seeing some of those Holy Grail collectibles that show up on there. If you're gonna be on tv...this would be a cool show to be seen on!! :) We will all have to have a viewing party online and hope that you get that Joe at the end. :) (no spoilers, please!) hahahahaha!
Haha thank you!! Given the chance I'll do my best to give the UMA a shout out, if not I promise I'll atleast tell someone about it before or after!
That's so awesome!! I hope you get on!!
WOW! That is so awesome! Kevin Smith is a GOD!
That's going to be awesome if you are on there! I'll be watching out for you! keep us posted!
Thanks guys! I'll definitely let you know...it's been fun stuff so far!
Thinking/wishing only positive things for you ... I don't know the show but good luck.

So....?
???
On tonight's episode a young guy came in with FM #1 & 108 and Spacemen #1 to sell. When asked where he got them he said his dad worked for Jim Warren back in the day and received them from Warren. They never said who his dad was, which makes me wonder. The guy said he was kind of an idea man. He also resembled Sam Sherman a bit. I wonder if Sam Sherman is his pop, or if not who is?
The books were pretty beat up, especially that Spacemen #1. Of course the only Spacemen #1s I've ever seen were in low grade. My copy's in low grade as well. The spines on those early Warrens were seemingly made to self destruct. The Stash (Walt) gave him $275.00 for the three books, which seemed to be a fair dealer buying price considering condition. The first thing I would have done is go through them with a fine tooth comb to check for clipped photos and coupons, but since most of these so called reality shows are scripted they either did that before it was shot or the whole thing was staged.

I was wondering the same thing. I was like "What's your name, dude!"
Very cool! Wishing you luck on this one.
These days, geeks rule!
Good Luck BL!

Have you fellows not noticed that he made his announcement with respect to a possible appearance more than eighteen months ago?
???

I was also thinking that. It seemed odd that his or his dad's name wasn't mentioned. Those type of shows usually just love to name drop.
Maybe the guy was fine with telling his story, but didn't want his name mentioned. Or possibly the father put in a complaint about the name being mentioned before the show aired. Who knows.

So true about
reality shows, with that and editing .. there aren't many honest reactions. It is always all about ratings and entertainment value more that anything else.
Well now I am curious to know if BlackLagoon got on the show. There hasn't been an update. Did you get on the show? Did they find your GI Joe comic?
