what no ets that this gem has finally been re-released on  DVD with a format that we can watch on our big TVs and a few cool extras, although I haven't watched the commentary yet.

I already have the other dvd release, and can watch it fine on my 50" plasma set. I'd imagine most people who really loved the movie bought the original dvd release as soon as it was available.

In related news, the monster squad dvd is now under $10 at walmart....

OK I admit I like the 16:9 format more than the earlier "wide screen" format.  And I am looking forward to the commentary.

There's a difference? Since the older dvd was "presented in it's original theater aspect", they must have cropped th enew release to make it wider screen.
