Be warned..when you see this, (Especially "Herman") You may be shocked..This image fills me with rage..

Image is hard to see. Looks and sounds 'okay', but... is that Herman on the far right? No, no, no, no, no... no, no no... no. No, no. No.
Yes. That is Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster. Looking like..well..Jerry O'Connell.
They claim to be fans, but I think they missed some key aspects of the show.
I'll just put that on the (long) list of shows I won't be watching.
I believe they are as big a fan of the Original series as Tim Burton was of the original Dark Shadows, and I predict that this reboot of the Munsters will be every bit as popular with the fans of the original series, as Burton's reboot of Dark Shadows were with those fans.
Well, the HOUSE looks great. But, what's the point of them living in a great, spooky old mansion if they're normal-looking and are trying to "blend" into their neighborhood? Especially if Herman is going to require occasional body-part and organ transplants from "fresh" donors? None of this s*** makes any sense!
My Opinion: Brad Garrett should have been cast as Herman. Even if they didn't "Frankenstein him up" I could deal with it. But Jerry O'Connell? C'mon.
I don't get it.

Brad Garret has long been my choice for Herman. he has a love for the character, and has done an impersonation of the character from time to time. I really liked him as Phil in Toonsylvania.

I don't even like the house. the thing looks like the Winchester Mansion in Oakland Ca. What's wrong with simply using the original design? They could even pay that Family in Texas that built a replica of the house to use theirs for exterior shots, if they don't want to dress up the exterior facade that still stands on the Universal back lot.

I doubt Brad Garrett would have done it unless they did, in fact, "Frankenstein him up." He's no fool. (Well, OK, there was that time he did that Jackie Gleason TV biopic, but, otherwise...)

Actually its in San Jose and it looks a heck of a lot better (and smaller) than the 1/2 CG pile on Mockingbird Lane. That set looks like it takes up a whole city block and is big enough to house several hundred people.
I will respectively say i don't see a Munsters remake but I do see crap.
I just don't even understand the point. What a bunch of a**holes.

I think we all suffer from that affliction, when it comes to this abomination-in-progress.
That reminds me of that episode of South Park where all Stan sees is crap lol

It's still hard to believe that ANYONE thinks this is a good idea-- then again, these are the same people that think "Mega Shark vs. Some Other Giant CGI Piece o' Crap" is a winner!
The best stuff with Herman Munster was when he was scaring the crap out of people by accident. People are supposed to be horrified by his visage, then jump over a 10 foot gate or run through a wall.
Jerry O'Connell looking like JERRY O'CONNELL????? What's the point?
I loved when Herman would go to the doctor and get examined and Paul Lynde would pass out after his tie levitated and glasses cracked. Where do you fit that in with Jerry O'Connell looking normal?
What MADE the Munsters won't exist. So.... what's the point? It's like making the Longest Yard without prisoners or football.
How are they going to pull off classic scenes like this?

???????
I think I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll watch this to see what it's like.

Ya sorry to sounds so angry and negative about this but I am. I find the remake very disrespectful to the Fans and most importantly the actors. I mean this is their legacy we're talking about. I'm hoping they get some fan outcry over this.

No one fired any shots at the SDCC panel, unfortunately.

Looking more and more like an Addams Family rip-off than it does anything to do with the Munsters!?

Its funny you say that, because I was thinking that style wise, it would be wiser to just re-make Addams Family if its going to be like this.
At least we know what this will be from the get-go. They aren't trying to hide the fact that this is an abomination. With Dark Shadows, they gave us a fantastic looking cast picture and made us believe it was in line with the original up until the trailer was released. So I will give these folks props for being upfront with the fact that they are decimating a classic.
What is Spot going to be? A harlequin Great Dane that drools? I hope it mauls Jerry O'Connell. >:D
It's hard to believe that Adam Sandler will be starring in a film that will have greater appeal to fans of the old Universal Monsters, with "Hotel Transylvania". Even Burton's "Frankenweenie" will be more appealing to fans of classic horror. I fail to see the whole point of this. Why do people insist on remaking things that embarrass them so much, that they need to change them to the point they're no longer recognizable? This reminds me of the dimwits who remade the Punisher, but refused to include the skull T-shirt, because it was too comic book like. Landis did a version that was we'll received with "Here comes the Munster", which I actually liked better then "The Munster's Revenge", (1981) which had the original cast. That film is not quite as bad as the Addams Family Halloween special from the seventies. Once you take away the make up from the characters, you've removed an iconic element which demonstrates you are unsuitable to handle the material. Why not just call it something else, and stop trying to sell the fans of a show on something that they can only hate? If they wanted to do a film about Dracula's daughter marrying a monster her Father created, and having a warewolf together, call it "The Dracula's". The fact that they won't even use the name "The Munsters" shows they want to distance them selves from the original series. I say they should just forget the original series exists, and let the fans enjoy the Munsters that already exist.
Have they said if the character's names are the same? (Herman Munster, Lily, etc.) Does Herman still work at Gateman, Goodbury, and Graves?

Spot is apparently going to be in the show as well, and Bryan Fuller (I think that's who it was) Mentioned that he wanted to include The Creature From the Black Lagoon (Uncle Gilbert) at some point, and the Invisible man. Apparently, even though he doesn't look like it, Herman is dead, and I guess "In a constant state of decay". That will be one of the dynamics of th show. Herman is constantly decaying and Lily doesn't age.
I'll probably still check it out..but it will be begrudgingly. lol
You can get a better look at them right here. It's...not going to make anyone feel any better...

I notice some "scars" on Jerry O'Connell upclose. So I guess that is a VERY slight improvement (In my opinion). Is it just me or does Mr. Izzard look a bit like Sir Anthony Hopkins in The Wolfman Remake? lol

Yeah, I see it does appear he's stitched together at a few points. Better than nothing I suppose, but I still don't like it.
I'll pass, don't care. Thank gawd for PBS & the few retro channels I get.

Character names are the same!
I'm betting that he will, it would be the one thing that makes since about this whole reboot; If Herman in constant need of new parts then what better place could there be to work at! I was also thinking that it would be interesting to replace Jerry O'Connel completely at some point with a different actor, I mean eventually Herman's head would rot and he'd need a new one, right?

I love the staricase, but think the costumes and make-up are abominable. How did this go so far astray? Also, what era is this set in? Because those are not modern clothes. I actually like Marilyn. She looks like Marilyn. But the rest? Terrible. Why does Universal even own the rights to the Monsters if it doesn't let their makeup/costumes be used?

In all fairness, in the original series they were described as "very old fashioned", so their clothes could certainly be described as such with today's standards.
Brought to you by the same studio that thought updating Psycho, and casting Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates, was a great idea.

Here's an article that has the full interview with Bryan Fuller about Mockingbird Heights. After watching this, and getting more info, and getting where he's coming from..I see his point. I think I'll give this show a shot. After all, I was a die hard Pushing Daisies fan, so I'm a fan of Mr. Fuller's work. Look at me flip flopping..lol :P

I see the point to, it's the shape of Fuller's head. I'd love to give this show a shot, from a howitzer.
