Now I know what your saying: "Isn't Monster Bash over a year away?"
Why yes it is! But if you wanna travel to Mars you got to start getting ready now! No, not that Mars with the little purple aliens, I'm talking Mars, PA! So start polishing up your rocket ships and make sure to check the oil, cause we're gonna be blasting off sooner than you think!
JULY 19-21, 2013
I'm booked and ready to go, Shadow! Looking forward to meeting John Saxon and Gregg Palmer fior the first time, and seeing other guests again. Want to see if Ron Chaney is in for a sequel to House of the Wolf Man, and hear from Janet Ann Gallow, who is a real sweetheart!!
New hotel, new movie and dealer rooms, new hotel staff to confound! I hope the Bash Boys will be able to play in the hotel lounge.
I want to book online to get cheaper rates but the hotel dates only go til June 2013. Guess I'll have to start calling around for some prices.
Shadow you'd better call them direct to see if they have any convention rates available for those dates; they seem to book up quickly.
On another note, I have my room at the Four Points booked. It's apparently about a $60.00 cab ride to the hotel from the Pittsburgh airport. No hotel shuttle available. Not "cheap", but much cheaper than renting a car.
Is it time yet?
I've been wanting to go to Monster Bash for YEARS, and it's starting to look like next will I'm FINALLY going. You have NOOOOO idea how excited I am ALREADY about it!
If all the planets align properly, I'll see you there. I made the last one by pure luck.
The Guest list is really expanding too! Vernica Carlson is coming back next year! She was really the epitome of a "beautiful mature woman"-classy, elegant, friendly as anything, and still quite lovely. Can't wait to mee Jon Saxon either. Hope he has some memories on working with Bruce Lee he wants to share.
The new hotel looks awesome from the pictures that have been posted.
The other day I saw the animated feature Hotel Transylvannia, featuring the classic monsters. In one scene, the classic five (Drac, Frankie, Wolfman, Mummy, Invisible Man) drive into the middle of a classic monter convention, where they discover that, instead of being terrified and hating them, the crowd LOVES them.
All I could think of was.....hey, they drove into Monster Bash!!
I wasn't even insulted by the "monster nerd" comment!! :D
Anyone seen the proposed schedule of events for 2013 yet? Sure, it's bound to change a bit before the show, but so far it looks great clear through to the end of the afternoon on Sunday, a time which traditionally has been a little "lighter" in terms of content.
The Bash has added a Elvis impersonator for Saturday night.
I like Elvis and enjoy a good tribute artist, but the only tie-in with monster fandom seems to be that Elvis starred in a movie with Pat Priest, who's a guest next year.
It'll be fun, but I'm not too sure of the monster tie-in...... ???
Maybe he'll be a Zombie-Elvis-has-Risen-from-the-Grave!
But an Elvis impersonator? Dunno about that one.....I think someone dropped the ball on this one.
There's a new addition to the Bash that I'm really looking forward to. Apparently Tom Weaver found a 20 minute film that was made for the wrap party of Revenge of the Creature, and he's showing at at the Bash! Looks like a fantastic line-up, especially in terms of new documentaries, etc. I don't even mind Elvis being there!
I'm really considering going....
Anyone who has gone in the past, is it worth it?
ALWAYS worth it! - My Aunt, who is more of a Westerns fan than horror, often comes down and enjoys our festivities.
This year, I may be bringing my husband - new experience for him.
Excellent news! I think I am going to try to go then.

You won't regreat it, it's a fantastic event! the only problem is, you'll find it difficult to break away from the events room to do your shopping...or eating...or sleeping!! This summer will be by 7th year attending, and it's always a highlight of my summer.

Yeah that is the only thing I was worried about. I'm interesting in attending almost ALL of the events and that left me wondering when I was going to have time to go buy all the cool stuff that I want to buy. Haha!
Is there any problems getting a hotel room usually?
At this point I think the main hotel may be booked up, but this time there are apparently a number of other hotels very close by that still have room. You'd have to contact the hotel and find out.
I went last year and had an absolute blast! I'm really hoping to have the money and time off to go this year. Definitely worth every penny and every second!
Monster Bash is fast approaching! Besides myself, anyone else going for sure?
I'll be there - and my husband is tagging along. It's his first Bash. He asked if we could have two sets of keys after I read to him the list of events, including the late, late night events. I don't think he's as into it as myself. I hope he at least comes to the "new wine" song.
At least with him there, I might be able to leave the event with a little cash still in my pocket!
Me! I will be there, with some friends!
Bash-prep is in full gear. All the myriad details (lots of 'em) are being attended to. I gotta get Bob's Bin of Bargains together (lots of rare models & stuff this year) and practicing the Bash Boys set for Friday night (I think we're on at 10 p.m. this year!)
It's all sorta like descending a steep ski slope -- with a jet pack on. That's about how fast things start moving in the weeks before Monster Bash.

They just posted today that the Ballyhoo documentary this year is about This Island Earth. Those guys are hugely talented documentary film-makers, and it's always a joy to see what they come up with. Also looking forward to the Skelton Knaggs dcoumentary. We need to get that guy a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Seriously.
I've been catching up on Gregg Palmer's collection of horror roles (Zombies of Mora Tau, Creature Walks Among Us, From Hell It Came). He apparently also guest-starred in several Bonanza episodes-I want to ask him if he has any memories of working with Glen Strange!
I will be giving a talk on Forry Ackerman and I will be doing it with Terry Pace! If you have not met me yet... well, we warned you... you will see me there!
Thats sounds awesome Monster Kid! I can't believe it's only 2 weeks until the Bash. Getting the car tuned up tomorrow, wrapping up my work next week, and getting ready to BASH!
Here we go again! Before long the Bash crew will be loading up the wagons and heading out from Vasaria to MARS. I've been helping Ron with the Bash since the very first one, and each one has been special. This one's gonna rock (with the Bash Boys, of course!). Bigger hotel, a lot more space, more dealers, a beautiful movie room, all kinds of various events. And (excuse the shameless plug) Bob's Bin of Bargains!
It's like a big family reunion. Those who have been to the Bash know what to expect. For any newcomers -- well, fasten your seat belts!

This is it-last post before I drive to the Bash! I hope all Bashers have a safe and happy trip there and back. LET'S GET BASHING!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
This is going to be my first Bash! Really looking forward to it.
And here I thought I wasn't going to be able to find any horror events once I moved to Pittsburgh....
You should have a really good time. Monster Bash is smaller, but that's its charm. It's cozy and family-friendly. I went to a couple about 5-6 years ago. I wish I lived closer. I've met Pat Priest, Janet Ann Gallow, Donnie Dunagan, Kyra Schon, Bob Dix, Cortlandt Hull, and Bill Diamond--and they are all very personable. UMA member, Daniel Horne, is an astounding artist. Davi "The Rock" Nelson is an experience.
We look forward to hearing how you enjoyed yourself. You'll even run into some UMA members if you look carefully enough.
Rob (Sadly staying home)
To all you Bash-goers, be sure to stop in the Creepy Classics room and say "Hi."
Check out Bob's Bin of Bargains (OK, my last shameless plug!).
And the Bash Boys, fresh from touring (?), go on Friday at 10 p.m.
To paraphrase Mr. Tor Johnson: "Time for go to Bash!"

OK - I'm mostly packed and definitely in the Bash frame of mind. I still have one appointment to do at 8am. Then it's up to PA to visit my Grandmother and help out with the Tractor Club mailing labels (I do temp work in my other life). Then FRIDAY=MONSTER+BASH!
Hope to see some of you there.

Bash was "fantastic" as usual, I have a few photos up: https://www.facebook.com/michael.joyner.940/media_set?set=a.10200348084367247.1073741827.1308897497&type=1 (https://www.facebook.com/michael.joyner.940/media_set?set=a.10200348084367247.1073741827.1308897497&type=1)
Fangtastic photos, thelatewinslowleach!
Yes, I will gladly travel 530 miles to the beautiful mountains of western Pennsylvania to the Monster Bash and if I had to travel farther I would! The guests are always first rate and the programming sure to please! This year I even got to give a presentation on Forrest J Ackerman! I also entered the Braintwister contest.. for the third time.. I always win something but I never get to win first prize... this year that went to thelatewinslowleach!!
Bash, as always, was amazing! The new hotel is really nice, and the dealer room was enormous! When I first got there I thought the film room might be a bit small, but it worked out really well-good sound and sight-lines anywhere you sat.
Ron and the crew almost worked themselves to exhaustion to provide a great Bash experience. It's too bad there were still some fairly sizable delays, especially on Saturday night. I noticed a few occasions on Saturday afternoon where guests could have been asked to cut short their presentations to keep things on schedule, but I guess Ron doesn't want to stop a show that is going well.
Great job this year by the Abbot and Costello tribute show! The fans were very enthusiastic and they guys seeemd genuinely pleased to be at the Bash to do their shows.
Can't wait until next year!!
Been working the Bash since the beginning, and this one rocked! Best part is catching up with good friends. Whether I'm doing a Q&A, playing with the Bash Boys or shamelessly pitching Bob's Bin of Bargains, everyone is just wonderful!
Thanks, all, for bashin'!
