Title: It's too damn hot!
Post by: BlackLagoon on July 05, 2012, 02:14:24 PM
I definitely picked a few good days to have off because this is just crazy with the heat!

Normally I could be found out back offending neighbors by flipping tuna steaks on the grill shirtless while listining to music at obscene levels--but the odds worked in their favor this time.  Until the sun goes down, aside from the routine trip to the dr. for a torn ACL...I am not leaving the comforts of central air.

I think some of Monmouth Co. NJ is already on water restriction and it's looking like we're gonna follow suit up north in the next few days. The rivers are super low and in the next few days it's supposed to hit 100!!

I gotta find a place that's around 70-75 degrees year round, 2 nice thunderstorms a month, no traffic, cheap property taxes, nice neighbors.....a local bar where everyone knows my name etc etc.

I really don't like the idea of it being 100+ degrees up north! I come alive at 80-90 degrees, and it is currently (7:00 pm east.) 102 degrees down here in NW GA.
Last week I didn't realize how hot it was outside, and I got a little woozy while I was doing some yard work. It really is unaturally hot! I wish you guys didn't have to suffer so much. I don't mind the heat, of course I look terrible if I have to go out in public, but I love to be nice and warm  :)

I usually stay in a room in my home with the a/c on to the coldest and just watch films, I keep it ice-cold, like an igloo

We caught a break here in Phoenix  yesterday -I called it a Fourth of July miracle -and the high never got past 92 degrees. We also got thunderstorms and big gray clouds, which I loved. But the temp is climbing again and by the weekend we'll be back to 108 or so. After 7 years of this crap I'm used to staying inside pretty much all summer.

Wow Moonshadow--at 108 I am officially out of the running for things that go on outside!!

They're saying next week it should cool down some, it's just been awhile with no rain.....a good thunderstorm kicks ass. I love talking a walk outside right before it hits, that cool air, gray skies over green trees. Huge fan!

When I was younger I lived a bit more south in Jersey and was literally on the bay--you could see these awesome lightining bolts in the distance that seemed to hit the water. And my neurotic mother pulling me away from bow windows to watch  :-\....c'mon man! Thunderstorm already!!

I keep my house like a morgue. . a cool 68 all year long.
so even though Im in l.a. , my temp. remains level, unless [god forbid] I have
to go outside, but I try not to . ( only at night :) )
The temp. here is pretty good though , all the time. I was at dinner
the other night and was seated out on the patio. It was lovely. ZERO humidity.
about 78 , with a breeze... LOVED it.

Went up to a "chain o' lakes" near LaGrange, Indiana for the 4th - 109, Thursday!  The missus & I stayed at her aunt's house, in a very small bedroom.  Had it's own ac AND fan!  Sheer arctic bliss!  Felt like a drunken Yeti - hell, you coulda hung meat in that room!  And I would have if they let me near the animals!

Wow Mark 109!?!? That is officially "be careful" weather--that's not even hot, that's dangerous!

I had a nice dinner date earlier but right now I'm in basketball shorts lounged on the couch watching old KISS videos--I have it at 67 and this place is sealed up and locked down!

Tomorrow is supposed to be 104!!--I'll run to get grocery really early in the morning, maybe pick up a dvd or something because after that?? I have a date with a few cold ones in my favorite chair and thats about it! 104?? Have fun without me outside world lol.

The rain situation is pretty bad here too--I live right near a huge river that runs through northern Jersey and when you can see the bottom like you can now, my reptillian friends get restless, head for the road and get hit--man animals are my soft spot. I keep a pair of street hockey gloves in my Jeep just to move the turtles. Sliders are no problem but the Snappers do not wanna be bothered!! Save 2 this year so far.

It was around 104 I believe today. Tomorrow is supposed to be hot as well and I'm planning on going to a car show. I would think about not going except for the fact that the Munster's Koach is going to be there. I have to see that in person! Not sure how long I am going to stay though. After that i will probably lock myself in the a/c as well.

Howler I was planning on going to Raceway Park here in NJ too--to see a big pts race in MX (dirtbikes)--they actually cancelled it due to the heat!

I don't think the weather people said it was that high - like 103-104 or something like that.  I'm just going by every damn thermometer I saw - including the one in our car.  I didn't get in, but everybody said the lake was like very warm bathwater!

After the brief and welcome respite on the Fourth, we're headed back to typical July temperatures.

How in the H*E*Double Toothpicks do you LIVE out there? If I were you, I'd walk right up to The Linebacker and slap the mouth right off his face. Then walk away without a word.

Things are starting to cook up here in Spokanistan too. After the coolest and wettest May and June in memory, we are now getting temps in the high 90s to 100's with thunderstorms! :o

That might be the worst part, Charpie -there's just no escape!

This July has even been a bit mild so far -no 115 temps (yet)!

Owww! Hot rain would be horrible! I've only been to Oklahoma once (Norman, OK.) and it was in July for Clarinet Fest. It was pretty darn hot, but really sunny  :)
Also, we spent most of the time indoors attending concerts.

You never know, he is a little kinky.

It doesn't matter, I have been subtly been reprogramming him, so that he now actually wants to move to California, the place he insisted was too expensive to live in. The problem now is our house being as far underwater as the Creech!

Chicago is seeing one of the hottest summers in recorded history. With the heat index we were seeing 108-115 days in a row. My gardens are crapped out even tho I water 1 hour every day and things are blooming then dying a month ahead of time. I had most of the week of the 4th off and  pretty much all I did was sit in the basement drinking beer and flavored water watching old movies and sleeping alot. Now I am back in the hot warehouse being miserable. 92 is considered cool  I don't do heat well at all especially now with all the meds I am taking. Give me 63 and cloudy anytime  8)

63 is good stuff Mike...take it easy in that warehouse!

I'm in and outside all day long--last few days have been pretty nice but there is no way in hell that I'm not turning the A/C on when I get home. I can't sleep in the heat.

As far as the snow goes with that pic?? I like a nice Nov early snow--the dusting ontop of the fall landscape is always beautiful and of course snow is great (in moderation)  around the holiday time...a good football game in the snow during that time, but after that?? Keep it. As far as I'm concerned February is fairly useless. When the Super Bowl is over you're pretty much just sitting through crappy weather counting the days till spring and all that it brings.

I seriously think I get annoyed easier around mid Feb.

Some of the best memories in my entire life and I mean "entire life" with all my heart--are of chilly October evenings, walking home on Fri or Sat night through town with my friends from another friends house--the smell of the cold air, the wet leaves collected on the side of the curbs. I was about 15-16 yrs old, my trustee flannel jacket  and a baseball cap.

I still love a good walk right when the temp drops and it gets dark early. There is something both very calming and invigorating about that.

Now that is alot of crap for a thread about heat.  ;)
