Title: Dreaming of Monsters
Post by: horror1o1 on May 06, 2012, 02:38:12 PM
I think I may be a little obsessed with monsters. Last night I had a dream i found a box of toys at a sale and it had all sorts of awesome stuff in it. It had the monster pencil sharpeners, a bunch of palmer figures , AHI figures. I mean this thing just had all sorts of good stuff in it. And then of coarse I woke up and was sad and depressed. LOL! Any one else have monster dreams or anything like that?

Oh yeah.  Dreamt I went upstairs of an estate sale to find a shelf crammed with unopened Aurora kits.  I tried carrying as many as I could ($1 each) before the room full of people noticed they were there.  Woke up wanting to buy a kit.

I have dreams of monsters all the time. I collect heads and parts for lifesize figures so I dream of getting really great stuff and then wake up NEEDING it no matter the cost.. Which of course is ridiculous because they're all too expensive sometimes. The best dreams are when I get to hang out with some of the long gone horror Icons like Price and Karloff.. Those are the best.

HA! This is too funny. I dream about monsters and have the too-good-to-be-true collecting dreams, too! Since I also collect "Star Wars" action figures, I've had many a little-plastic-army-guys-from-outer-space dream, as well.

I dreamed that a friend of mine had been killed in a car wreck and I and my nephew decided to commandere the city water tower, convert it into a laboratory and make my friend into a frankenstein monster. Oddly, my older brother was leading an angry mob after me.

I had the same feeling. I wanted something monster really bad when I woke up but in my town there isn't really anything unless you stumble across it.

When I do, I dream about actual monsters, not about collecting them. Monster dreams are the best.

Count me in!  I actually started a thread about this a couple of years ago.  Had many "collecting" dreams.  Several times, I've even dreamed that Godzilla was lumbering through a huge city that I was stuck in.  He seems to be 800 feet tall.  I'm usually alone, looking for friends and/or family.  Trying to hide in giant parking garages, underground bunkers, etc.  It's really very frightening & spooky as hell.  Godzilla is very dark & evil in my dreams, and sometimes, he spots me - that's when I usually wake up!

LOL! This is funny It seems like collecting is my biggest nightmare. I never have dreams about actual monsters chasing me or anything. I think I see them as old friends or something. I also about a week ago had a dream about finding the Marx Remote control Frankenstein and the full set of Soakys Monsters.lol!

Another dream I have from time to time, is about me finding a treasure trove of cool monster stuff in one of the "cubby holes" in the house I grew up in.

A friend of mine, just two years younger than me, had a dream as a small child about "The Dunwich Horror" (1970) that was so vivid, he woke up the entire house with his screams. He was pale afterwards, they took him to the hospital. At 7, he'd had a heart attack!
So, what's his favorite horror film? "The Dunwich Horror"!

lol! Wow! This story right here actually triggered a memory i forgot about. So when I was 4 I seen the shrinking man and use to have night terrors. So on this particular day I had a bad one and woke up Mom and Dad cause I was screaming "I"m Shrinking! I'm Shrinking!" Mom said she tryed to wake me up but my eyes were open and said to her "I'm shrinking" and i guess she said your dreaming and my reply was "look at my hands! Can't you see them?" SO mom flipped out and started cry and called the hospital and asked what should she do "my son says he's shrinking!" LOL!

It might have been from reading this thread and watching episodes of Supernatural, but had a most amazing monster dream last night filled with vampires and werewolves. There was more to it than that, but the rest of the gorey details are for my eyes only. heh heh  >:D

I dreamed about monster collectibles one night recently.   I dreamed thst my mother willed to me her entire collectible wine bottle/decanter collection and one of them was a Lon Chaney Sr. decanter dating from 1930.  I was told my an appraiser that it was work a few hundred dollars.   I think it is more likely that there was at some time a Lon Chaney decanter than it was likely that my mother ever collected wine bottles or decanters or having anything whatsoever to do with wine or liquor.

I've had the "finding massive collections" dreams more times than I can count and it always sucks waking up and realizing it was all a dream. >:( I also had a Lovecraft related nightmare once. The first time I read Shadow Over Innsmouth, I did not know the end of the story , I stopped reading right after the narrator escapes from innsmouth and went to bed. that night I dreamt about the story and instead of escaping the Deep Ones found me and I turned into one myself. Imagine my astonishment when i finished reading it and the narrator does indeed turn into a Deep One!

Thanks for spoiling it! LOL! Just teasing. I have wanted to read some Lovecraft though.

This is a cool thread!  My GODZILLA dreams (and all my monster dreams) never scare me - more an exhilarating experience - besides, I like creepy stuff!

I remember one where I was pretty much out in the open, when I saw & heard Big G stomping up over the horizon.  He was almost black and twice the size he's usually depicted as being.  So I hide behind an old abandoned shack.  I peek out from around the corner and the giant son-of-a-gun is standing only a couple thousand feet away - then he suddenly snaps his head around and our eyes meet!  No, it's not "love at first sight" - he looks totally pissed & enraged.  Can't remember how that one ended!

Still, I woke up totally exhilarated!

Ya know, I don't think I have ever had a nightmare about the ol' monsters.  Dreams always seemed cool and a neat place to be.

Had one last night about going to the hospital after cutting my hand off to remove a giant, flesh-eating cricket that lodged itself in the meat of my lower thumb, and while at the hospital I saw the whole group of MOTM models at an ala carte souvenir shop, and I bought the Hunchback and Wolfman.

Never dreamed of collecting things, but stuff I collect has turned up in my dreams.  Uncle Creepy and Vampirella have showed up numerous times, the latter very nicely.  I tend to be hiding from zombies a lot too.
