Title: Why isn't there a midwest Monster Movie/toy/Mask convention
Post by: morbidboy on April 20, 2012, 09:39:41 PM
When I lived in Los Angeles, which was up to a couple of years ago I used to go to monster conventions all the time... But now I'm in Minnesota.

Why don't we have our own convention? There's enough fans, collectors, and dealers out here to start one up?

What I gotta do to start one up here?

Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

Or, as they say in UP's neck of the woods-----'Better to light a match than to curse the meatloaf'... ;)

Make sure all the windows are open and the fans are on when UP lights anything.

I love Flashback Weekend. I have been going there off and on for the past ten years it's been around. Though it's a small convention it's a lot of fun.

I usually always go to this con, even though i live in L.a. because I love it, and think its one of the better ones.
I have been several times.
They usually have like a midnight spookshow " drive in " all 3 evenings, which is one of my favorite features of the con.
It is SOooo fun to be able to go to the drive in every night , and see old and/or classic horror movies on the big screen.
I'm mad that its in August this year.. its usually in Sept. ( gosh i think it was later than that a few times, like in October ),
cuz in August, I normally go to Wacker ( metal fest in Germany )..
so Im totally bummed,. i think they cross each other and i wont be able to be in both places at the same time. .hate when that happens.
I swear, I need 2 of me, to fill in where I cant be... lol
:D

Scatter, Spooky Empires is coming back in October again along with Mayhem here in May. There are some other conventions that happen in Jacksonville sometimes and other cities in FL, but you really gotta look out for them. And... spooky empires was a whole lotta fun last year (besides the rain), you shoulda went !! We are also lucky enough to have Halloween Horror Nights and Howl-o-Scream. Imagine what its like dead in the middle of the country.

Hey, that might be your best bet. That's what finally happened here in Charlotte, anyway, with Mad Monster Party.
