Title: So I had this Aurora Dracula...
Post by: RICKH on March 18, 2012, 02:38:45 PM
In my last customizing project I used an extra Aurora Frankenstein and Wolfman that I had stored away.  I changed their poses and put them on a different base to create a Frankenstein meets the Wolfman diorama.  Well the base was made from an extra Aurora Dracula kit that I had lying around.  I didn't know what to do with my baseless Dracula, so I decided to come up with a new base.  That led to some changes in the model itself that I had always wanted to try.  So here's the finished product.  Hope you enjoy the results.  Now, I've got an extra Mummy kit, I wonder....
You can see how I used the original base here.

Here's the new base and reworked Drac:

Very nice! And a far more appropriate base for the Count than the old one ever was. Did you scratch-build the candelabra, or is that a dollhouse accessory?

That is one heckofa job you did there. Very creative. Looks like you cut the front pieces of the cape and shaped them nicely. Looks more like it should rather than the Aurora "poncho" styled cape. Candlelabra is a nice touch.

Thanks for the kind words!
Count, the candelabra came from Hobby Lobby.  I saw it and thought it would match the scale of the model.

Love the cape work. I agree the poncho like cape never made sense to me.

Watching the 1931 film it really is hard to figure out what exactly is going on with Lugosi's cape in that first scene.

I guess it's kinda draped over like you've done in your re -vamp...pire? Anybody else have a thought on the cape?

Excellent work! Everything works together, the base the re-pose, the cape work and the paint job. You have greatly improved on the original Aurora.

James Bama painted his Mummy and Creature box covers together on one canvas.

Maybe therefore your next diorama could feature the Creature together with the Mummy.

Hep, thanks for the pics and the suggestion!  I'm still mulling over the mummy dilemma.  I think my next model project will be turning the Polar Lights Dick Tracy scene into  the Shadow.
