I'm only
adding Creatures!
I assume you check ebay (and other auction places)?
I'd love to know where you got the Life size Creature statue? Looks great
I have a Don Post amateur "recast mask" and a CFTBL fan made bust. I might even be willing to sell some standees. I do have a lot of unusual CFTBL books (thought prob not for sale )
The Creature is Mark Alfrey's first sculpt of the Creature for Greg Nicotero at KNB Effects. I did a trad with Greg many years ago and there are only three in existence.
Still looking for, remco, jigglers, board game, squirt guns anything with the Creature's image.
If you send me an email, send pictures!
Anyone, Bueller?

Hey guys, wallets, flip flops, anything with the creature on i'm interested. I am more interested in vintage pieces and last night I made my first purchase through the UMA. While I appreciate ebay links of what you are selling, I am looking to buy direct before I have to compete with ebay.
Thanks guys,
Paul
Just wanted to vouch for Paul, as he paid me promptly and fairly for the items that I had for sale.
Pete
Are you looking to buy these items in order to make replicas of them?
I collect but I also work in the toy industry.
You have your opinion on reproductions and I clearly have mine. If I pay good money for an original, it's mine to do with as I please.
Right now I'm just looking for a few rarer items for my personal collection. I just bought a mint sealed Creature Board game and I opened it immediately. ;)

No argument there. Would love to see pics of the game. Do the cards come in a stack with the game pieces or as one sheet or ?? I've never seen one that was unused.

Not quite. If the original is protected by copyright, then you can only reproduce it for personal use. You may not distribute reproductions.

And I drew a mustache on the Mona Lisa.
Not true Hep, most of the toys from the sixties are from now defunct companies. Also most patents are only good for 20 years so we are long past the expiration date. If you are working with the original licensee and the original company does not exist or the patent is up, the original licensee has the rights to re-issue that product to whomever steps up. I've been doing this for ten years and it's a lot easier than you would think to make these reproductions.
I am very happy with the response from members here that have written me regarding this limited edition board game.
More info and pictures to come when I have them.
Paul
I have a Creature mask, hands, and an action figure - $100 (+shipping).
I don't know if you'd be interested, but I have an original resin CFTBL base from the early 90's in the box (I purchased this new.) This was created by Mike Parks as a companion piece to the Billiken CFTBL. It was featured in the book "The Garage Kit that Ate My Wallet," or "Son of the GKTAMW."
I have never offered this for sale until now, so please let me know if you're interested before I offer it to the public.
Thanks,
Chris

Well hopefully you're upfront with potential buyers that these are indeed repros and these repros contain some sort of identifying mark so that subsequent unscrupulous resellers can't just say they have no idea of the providence of the piece.
???
Well after a few years of getting pushed to the back burner the Creature Board game and Mark 2 are back! I should have photos of the prototypes soon.
Hep these are fully licensed through Universal Studios and will have a 2014 licensing mark on the box and board, so no worries about shenanigans.
Besides, the originals will still retail their value as we are doing a very limited run of both Creature Board gams.

What is the "Mark 2" and what are "both Creature Board games" (if not the same thing)?
I'm assuming one is the Hasbro mystery game, correct?

Sorry one is the reproduction of the original while the Mark 2 is our very own version of the game with new artwork and graphics.

We finally secured the licensing from Universal, that was the first hurdle. Seems like it's a bunch of soccer moms over there doing licensing and even though I was handing them money up front they just didn't want to license Universal Monsters. They kept telling me that the monsters were not great money makers.
Well after a lot of going back and forth we licensed a lot more than the board game so we don't have to go back to them for a while. As per the license we have to get one piece out within six months, so the original board game will be first since it's ready to go. I'd say mid summer release.

Interesting business strategy. Tell the people handing you money not to.
Sigh.

I have a pathological hatred of soccer moms. They've been the bane of society and everything I hold dear for at least the last 25 years.
>:(
What size edition is this going to be? Will we find these in stores such as TRU?
JP
Will it be made by machines (like the original), or by hand, like repro toy boxes?
All machine made by a current game producer. We are doing a limited run and they should retail around $40-$50 for the repro. They will be available through Diamond and comic retailers and direct through our website. I'll make this promise, I will offer free shipping in the USA to any UMA board members and will offer it here first.
We got around some of the marking issues with Universal by placing their modern logos on the plastic wrap. So the only thing visible will be a legal line on the outside lid where the original legal line was located. We did however put a TELL on every piece in the game which will be revealed at some point. i didn't want anyone putting repro parts in an old box and claiming it was all real. It will be very subtle and unless you had the two side by side you'd never know.
The repro looks great from what i've seen so far.
Paul
Excellent! I had assumed this project was long dead. I'll pick one up as soon as they're ready, and it might be something I can feature on our newly Rondo nominated website!

Put me down for one as well. Another Creature item added to the collection is always a good thing.

When can we expect another update? Lookin' forward to this.

So, what happened?
Sounds like a lot of NOTHING happened!! I don't know about you, but I looked back from the beginning of this topic, and I would NEVER EVER open up a sealed original creature game, if I were to reproduce a thing like this (if I actually could), I'd wait for a well used copy of the game to surface. Something just doesn't sound right??!!

I would NEVER EVER open up a sealed original creature game
On the luckiest day of my life, if I found a sealed game at a garage sale and thought it was the only one I'd ever get, I'd have to open it! But, I assume, I would be able to trade it for a near perfect one and a chunk of change.
Hey Mike. Well, for trading purposes, and to get some extra money if that's what you initially wanted to do, I can see your point. But, to me, it's kind of the same thought process as to opening up an original seal on an Aurora kit. Just a short time ago on e-bay, a person had an original 1964 Aurora Godzilla kit that was sealed, he mentioned in the description that he removed the original seal because it was torn a bit and dirty, I wanted so bad to send him an e-mail to tell him that original sealed Godzilla kits by Aurora are indeed quite rare, and it really wasn't the smartest thing to do, but, anyone can surely do what they want with their collectibles (as in opening up a sealed Creature game). Actually, in my opinion, the best comeback to this thread was by Monster Bob on page 2 of this topic.

Yeah, but there's plenty of Aurora repros to build and paint. If I could get a Creature Mystery Game repro, that easy, of course I wouldn't unseal an original. Only when faced with the likelihood of never getting to see/touch/play with the insides of one.
I don't think most board games came shrink wrapped before 1975 or so.

Mike, totally understood. And Hep beat me to it, I was actually going to mention too about earlier board games being sealed or not. I've owned quite a few early 60's games with the actual store price sticker still attached to the lid in the corner or on the bottom box.
To my knowledge, none of the monster games came with the lids shrinkwrapped the bottoms. All of them came with the small box that holds the characters and the wooden tokens shrinkwrapped.

Ah ha! Well, that makes sense. Didn't want somebody opening the box and having all the little pieces fallin' all over.

Many games were packaged that way. I'm tempted to say that was the standard.

We had the licensing through Universal to reproduce the came 100% like the original, but Mattel would not give us the rights to their vintage logo.
I really wanted the logo on the box and we went back and forth for months and in the end I moved on to other things. I could revisit at some point, but not right now.
I have everything scanned and mastered like the originals and even found an old school game maker in China that had the right process to reproduce the box and board with accuracy.
Only thing that would have been different is we had a sculpted creature figure cast in four colors along with the original paper versions and an updated copyright on the box and board so there was no confusion.
What could have been....

LFSPaul, totallu understand the wanting of that Creature squirt gun, everybody into monsters is seeking one now a days, a lot of competition out there. I remember vividly actually passing on at least 2 of them 30 or so years ago out back where the dealers set up in the field at Renningers, it's around when I first started collecting seriously monster toys, and I was only seeking out items from the 60's, I figured there would be more around since they were from the 70's, big, big mistake on my part, all I can do now is just shake my head. I own a lot of Creature items, I guess my 2 best pieces so far are the Hasbro paint set (very slightly started with still nice box and paints), along with the original art painting to the Golden puzzle that came out either in the 80's or 90's series of Universal monsters, I obtained this piece from e-bay over 25 years ago.

Well that anyway would explain why Mattel's lawyers weren't willing to extend him permission.
