Title: 80s Squeaky Bugs
Post by: countzackula on October 27, 2011, 09:06:59 PM
Okay, these are two large vinyl bug monster toys from the glorious 1980s. If you are into weirdo buggie things like this or a fan of relatively obscure toy lines...you'd notice the molds on these are bootlegged from the ROCKS, BUGS, and THINGS toys made by ideal.

They have the classic squeaker underneath. No date, technically, but they do have a manufacturer symbol that kinda looks like a six-pointed star with a stylized "HS" within it. They've got plastic googily eyes too boot...solid! I'm trying to find out if any more styles exist, if they had a special name, and what kind of packaging (if any) they came in. I've seen at least one example of a color variation...the scorpion with the same color scheme as the spider. I kinda wanna assume a spider was done up in the orange/yellow colors.

I'm from Baltimore.  We throw things that look like that in a pot, cover'em with Old Bay and serve with some Natty Bo. ;)

I was thinking the same thing R.K.  ! All they need is a plastic pirate ship and a little Dana Gillespie figure with her big balloons !
