The world is a little less funny, today.

Just one of many great Carlin routines.

One of the VERY few folks to get the Mark Twain Prize who TRULY merited that tremendous association.

Thanks, George. Hope the new booking goes well.

There will NEVER be another. One of the all time great original comic geniuses. Did for comedy what the Beatles did for popular music.... A timeless wit.  Thank you George.

Here's to the Hippy Dippy Weatherman who forever changed the way I listen to radio announcers. My Brother and I loved George Carlin's "Class Clown" and "Occupation Fool" LPs and his books have always been funny, yet thought provoking. In his last book "When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops" he wrote about actual jobs and the euphamistic names given to very mundane jobs---which fits my job perfectly "Circulation Specialist" a very fancy, important sounding job title which sounds much better than "All Purpose Library Dogsbody".
I remember George Carlin being the very first host for the debut of "Saturday Night Live" and his numerous appearances on all sorts of TV shows, "The Tonight Show", "The Ed Sullivan Show", "Steve Allen", "Flip Wilson" and on.
You know, George Carlin helped me get an "A" back in grade school; we had to come up with an invention and then give a sales pitch--I couldn't think of any real invention but George Carlin had talked about the handy dandy "Cheese Straightener" and thus my invention was born(I got docked some points for giving my presentation with gum in my mouth).
So, I'll have a few scoops of "Chicken Mint" and "Egg Salad Ripple" ice cream and listen again to "Class Clown."

    Good night, George.

    "Meek"

This news was a sad start to the day.  Thanks be for the recordings, the audio and video--he lives still!  Bless you, George.  You told it the way I liked to hear it told!

I can't resist posting these random thoughts from George Carlin:

"More people write poetry than read it"

  "Whatever became of alpha-carotene?"

"Cigarette companies market heavily to young people. They need young customers because their product kills the older ones. It is the only product, if used as intended, kills the consumer"

"When I notice a dead fly on the windowsill----one that wasn't there the day before---I always wonder how did he die. I wonder if he had a stroke, or maybe a little fly heart attack. Then I think he's just pretending to be dead so I won't swat him. So I swat him."

"I think they ought to have really fast escalators that you have to jump on and off, and if you get hurt, too bad."

"When it comes to God's existence, I'm not an atheist and I'm not an agnostic. I'm an acrostic. The whole thing puzzles me."

George Carlin saw the truth, talked about it and made it funny. He disarmed the powerful by mocking them in all their foolishness. His wit will be sorely missed.

It's sad that he's gone. He was one of THE BEST. Now he joins the other greats like George Burns, Richard Pryor, & Rodney Dangerfield!
R.I.P George Carlin & Thanks for the laughs

Listening to George Carlin sketches this week has given me two good feelings.

First, I feel really intelligent; I'm honoring a great entertainer.

Second, I feel really entertained; his comedy was shockingly intelligent!  Even the crude stuff.  Especially the crude stuff!

So George, thanks for that.
