In Memory of Bela Lugosi, who left us this day in 1956
"E"
Second-hand Lugosi annecdote. In the late '80s I worked in Lower Manhattan with an older guy from Brooklyn. When he was a kid, his brother and he took the subway to Times Square to see one of those Universal all-day Saturday monster fests. On their way down 42nd Street, they passed a barbershop. Standing outside, scrutinizing himself in the mirror, was Lugosi. He sees them staring at him in recognition and, turning slowly to them, said, "I teenk I need a shave!" They screamed and ran all the way to the theater, Lugosi's chuckling fading as they ran!
Thanks for the memories Bela.
He died the year I was born. He sure entertained me over the past 55 years!

I thought Curly died In August.. he died in January. My error. I'm big enough to admit it.
"Fangs" for asking, Scatter. No, it won't be recorded. But the Monster Fest is great fun and FREE and I hope many will attend. You will feel like you are HOME.

Why? WHY? WHY????????????
My dad always used to remind me, with great pride, that Lugosi, Peter Lorre, and Leslie Howard, were all Hungarians. He never mentioned the Gabor sisters, though . . .
