Doom Metal is perfect music for monster movies (zombie movies) great Atmosphere.
I'm a Doom fan, too. Saint Vitus, Candlemass, Trouble, Pentagram, Witchfinder General, Pagan Altar, Thorr's Hammer. I love it all!
post some links
Here's what Trouble sounds like...
Trouble - The Tempter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0RXSkh2JI0#)
And here's one of my favorite Pentagram songs...
Pentagram-Day Of Reckoning Doom Metal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TPoH8zxPes#)
Black Sabbath's monolithic debut inspired legions of lumbering, down-tuned disciples. Here's one of my favorites...
Norwegian exchange student Runhild Gammelsaeter sang with THORR'S HAMMER when she was just seventeen years old. This is her singing both the
pretty, etherial vocals as well as the gutteral Death-like vocals...
Thorr's Hammer - "Norge" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYWGiNLbmhs#)
Anytime I listen to a doom metal band I think, "That's pretty good!", then I think, "Man I'm gonna go listen to some Sabbath!".
I used be a HUGE fan of Doom. I still break out my tapes from time to time. My 2 fave bands in that genre are Candlemass and Trouble. Not a fan of the funereal doom or sludge. Just tooooo slow and boring. Since Mon put in Thorrs hammer and the fact that it's a female doing the nasty vocals I thought I'd post this one. Early 90's doom/death or death doom band Mythic. 3 hot babes on a mission and over looked. The vocalist is Dana Duffey.
Mythic - Thy Future Forecast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP0iKfHGkXI#)
Sleep. - Druid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVn6Kkn-eMo#)
SLEEP, One of my favorite doom metal bands
I saw a great Doom Metal band on youtube Today They were very young maybe early 20's
A Russian band called Revelations of Rain
Really sad and forboding perfect for a Zombie movie !!!
Personally I find doom metal to be boring. To me its basically death metal for guitarists with arthritis in their fingers.
NOTE: I can say that because I, myself, have arthritis. ;)
HUGE fan of doom and stoner. The album that got me into doom metal was the latest album from the Gates of Slumber, "The Wretch."
I had the opportunity to interview Wino back in November, check out the interview below!

For the people who like more of a 70s vibe, check out Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats "Blood Lust" (my avatar). It's like listening to a Hammer Horror film!
Also, there's a band out of Detroit called Acid Witch who are great as well. The vocals are more growly, but they grow on you. Check out the "Stoned" album.

Yeah That's a Good One I've got it also .
Christian Mistress - Possession (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiYpRWsB2QQ#ws)
That new Christian Mistress is a great album!
New Saint Vitus comes out tomorrow. I heard an advance copy and it's really good. I only wish it was a little longer with more songs. One track is just Dave Chandler making weird noises with his guitar. I guess that's what happens when you smoke too much during the record session...

Christian Mistress is a bad-a** band. I'll have to check-out the new Saint Vitus.

My one problem with the new Vitus, is the length. 2 of the 7 songs are weird instrumentals where Dave Chandler is making weird noises with his guitar. That's fine and all, but now we're left with only 5 songs.
Listening to an advance copy of the new Candlemass, and like all Candlemass, it's "epic doom metal!"
The new Witchsorrow, "God Curse Us," is really good. It comes out in the US the first week of July.
Anyone listen to Jess and the Ancient Ones? Very similar to The Devil's Blood and Blood Ceremony. Highly recommended!

Oh yeah, Blood Ceremony are great. I saw them last summer play a really tiny club in Grand Rapids, MI in front of a tiny crowd of maybe 80 people and they tore it up! A great live band, and they were incredibly tight. I can't wait for their new album to drop.
Are you a Devil's Blood fan as well?
New Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats song. I cannot wait for this record to come out!

Last Rights Records has it for pre-order right now for about $32. Because Blood Lust was so popular, I don't think you'll have trouble getting it. Another great site for ordering doom albums is All That Is Heavy. They'll have it.

You're welcome! Rise Above Records usually does a "die hard" version of their releases, so I'm holding off on preordering in hopes I'll score one of those!
I was into Doom Metal in the 1990s. Internal Void, Count Raven,Sleep,Trouble,Sorcerer,Fu Manchu, and the almighty Black Sabbath.

I was listening to Trouble's "The Skull" this afternoon. Great album! And speaking of Fu Manchu, they're hitting the road this spring and will be doing the entire The Action Is Go album.

Yup, they're still around. I'm a casual Fu Manchu fan, so I can't tell you what the line up is like (whether it's original or not) or what else they're doing, aside from touring.

I'm a casual fan as well lately Fu-Manchu website says they're working on a new CD. That's cool with me. :)

Fu-Manchu is a great live band. I once saw them with White Zombie in 1990/91.

I have a split CD with Church of Misery and sHEAVY, I haven't played it in awhile but its pretty cool.
I love Sleep, Electric Wizard, Earth, The Goslings, and many more. I actually just saw Blood Ceremony with White Hills and Kylesa. They were great!
I play in a doom band too.

And speaking of Uncle Acid, I'm interviewing him tonight! I'll post the audio in a few days.
What do you think of Mind Control? I really like it. I don't think it's as good as Blood Lust, but still a worthy follow up.

Some really great records have been released in the past few months. Here's a handful that are fantastic if people are looking for something new:
Uncle Acid - Mind Control
Orchid - The Mouths of the Madness
Blood Ceremony - The Eldritch Dark
Purson - The Circle and the Blue Door
Church of Misery - Thy Kingdom Scum
Cathedral - The Last Spire

I saw Blood Ceremony and Kylesa play a few nights ago. Blood Ceremony are an incredible live band and worth seeing if you get the chance. And everyone in the band is super cool and down to earth.
Church of Misery - Killifornia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhU51O0xhE8#)
Was White Hills on the bill with Kylesa and Blood Ceremony when you saw them? I just saw them a few weeks ago also. The whole show was great, but White Hills blew my mind.

Yes, White Hills was on the bill. They weren't too bad. If I had more money with me I would have picked up their album at the show.

Not yet. But I would like to. :D
I heard an advance copy of the new Trouble album, "The Distortion Field," and it's killer! The new dude has a great voice and it fits the music really well. Worth checking out when it hit shelves (next week I think).
yea, I enjoy doom metal live but I don't think I can get over the vocals. Much more into crust and grind.
