Title: Undying Monsters Magazine
Post by: Cinemacabre on July 13, 2011, 11:59:26 AM
(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad213/Cinemacabre/UMBannerBW.jpg)
I am very pleased to announce that, starting with issue #2, I'll be writing a regular column for Undying Monsters Magazine called "Just My Type." Dave Davey and I met at this year's Monster Bash and hit it off. Late last week, we hammered out a deal and now we're off and running. I am very excited to be working with Dave and the rest of the gang at Undying Monsters. We're all hoping for big things in the future - making sure we give the fans of "classic" horror a fun and informative read.

My introductory column will be in issue #3 but I'm writing a column for issue #2, which is the Vincent Price issue, because I have a small personal VP story that I'd like to share. That issue goes to the printer in a little over a week so we won't have time for introductions till the following issue.

This will in no way effect my column in Famous Monsters Of Filmland. In fact, when I told Phil (Kim) about the deal he told me that he likes Dave and supports Undying Monsters Magazine. Dave is working like a madman to make issue number #2 worthy of its cover celebrity. That means he won't be updating undyingmonsters.com to include my addition to the magazine for a few days. I was holding back this announcement until he did the official Press Release but he's given me the official "okay" to post it here.

I hope my regular readers who haven't checked out Undying Monsters will give it a try. And thanks to all of you for your support over the past year. Your good wishes mean the world to me.

Regards,
Rich

This magazine is going to become the standard by which other classic horror magazines are measured by. I like Monsters from the Vault for the exact same reason. Fortunately I am on the ground floor for this particular launch. I missed out big time on MFTV. That Vincent Price is exquisite.

I cannot wait to see a Lee and Cushing issue...and possibly a Psycho cover with Norman and Mrs. bates. This magazine has impressed me---and I am kinda jaded against Monster mags for a variety of reasons. But this is one rocking mag.

I thank you for Dave, Steve and the rest of the gang who work so hard to put UM out. I'm the newbie - those guys are the ones who put in the blood, sweat and fears in the earliest days of the magazine. We have one goal: make each issue better than the last. So I hope your glowing words become downright radioactive by this time next year.

Unfortunately, because of a snafu in the latest Diamond Previews catalog/magazine, Undying Monsters #3 won't be out this Halloween. It'll be closer to December. But I promise it will be well worth the wait. Lots of Hammer and Brides Of Dracula goodness this holiday season.

Sorry, folks

It'll be closer to December.

Then it'll make a good X-Mass present!  :)

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. You can order all of the issues or get a subscription at http://www.undyingmonsters.com/ (http://www.undyingmonsters.com/)

As soon as we can get it in the big chains I'll let you guys know. If you have a local comic book store you can order it there too but I'd suggest the website. Dave mails 'em out very quickly.

Thanks for asking about UM.

I hopped over to the website. The cover art for all three issues is just gorgeous!

It's a beautiful magazine from cover to cover, IMHO.

In fact, my photo is the ugliest thing in UM... but you probably figured that out ahead of time. 8)

I only have this single issue, can't recall where it came from
but there was no resisting that cover. After following one of
the links posted above to their website, there seems to be
no mention of upcoming issues beyond #5. Was that all
there were? It really looked like a top quality publication.  :(

That issue #5 never came out. It was a good mag, but it didn't last long. I have all 6 issues, including $0 and the reissue #0, which had a different BK cover.

They appear to all still be available from the website, except the original #0.
