Better known as Detective Columbo, I remember him best as Max (Professor Fate's lackey).
He was also memorable as the rogue CIA agent in the original The InLaws and as the grandpa in The Princess Bride
I just watched Falk as Max last week - I recorded "The Great Race"....pity there was so much hassle over visitation by his daughter...
Rest well, Detective Columbo...

RIP, Lieutenant.
so sad to hear this, as Columbo was one of my favorite tv shows
Just one more thing . . . rest in peace!
VERY saddened to hear this........RIP Columbo, and thanks for the decades of fun.
My idea of heaven: a huge Sunday roast followed by an afternoon on the couch watching Columbo! God bless ya Peter Falk.

Save a seat cushion for me mate........
My love for sunday Columbo sessions has become a bit of joke with my family, we usually go to the inlaws for sunday dinner but I insist on my weekly 2pm fix of the great scruffy detective.....my family take the micky but they are all Columbo converts now.
Another pair of great roles of Peter Falk were as Sam Diamond in MURDER BY DEATH and as one of the cab drivers in IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD.

One of my favorite actors. From The Twilight Zone to The Trials Of O'Brien and Columbo to The Princess Bride. Whenever I see him in a movie, I think of my Dad, as his favorite tv shows were COLUMBO and THE ROADRUNNER/COYOTE cartoons!

And don't forget Falk and Alan Arkin in "The In-Laws".
I think the last film I saw him in was, The Thing About My Folks, from 2005. He was quite a character in it!
I remember as a kid seeing a TV Guide article that showed how his coat was made to look like it does....if I remember, there were numerous coats ready to use. Mike, you would not happen to have that Guide around or remember it by chance?

Cool site Dave!! Thanks!
not to mention "The Cheap Detective", a comic re-telling of "The Maltese Falcon", with Falk playing the Sam Spade role.....funny!
How sad. R.I.P. Peter Falk
