The great Mountain guitarist Leslie West had his leg amputated, due to his diabetes:

Here he is doing what he does best (even though he was sick with the flu!):

That's some rough news. Hope he recovers as best as he can.

That is tuff news! I saw Mountain up close at a concert in Jacksonville Fla. about 1971...... Nantucket Sleighride.....what a song! Buddy
Damn - that's tough! Here's to a quick recovery!
Hey UP.......there ain't no quick recovery from an amputated leg.......... least I don't think there is ......Buddy
Wait a sec........Amazing Spiderman #6......Dr. Connors becomes the Lizard.......grows a new arm.....
Having known a few amputees and having diabetes (type2) myself, I guess what I really meant to express was: I hope his recuperation process is the best it can possibly be.
Yea, that's a seriously unfortunate thing. Anybody remember the movie Kings Row with Ronald Regan? He is hurt in a train accident and the doctor that attends him amputates both his legs. Not because it was necessary, but because the Regan character had been messing with his daughter.
I attended this concert:
Leslie West and Mountain,2009, Toronto, "Nantucket Sleighride". Great! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m1UZ34Bwuw#)

I've seen Leslie West several times in the past 5 years and he's still great .. I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.
