"Monster Mash" by Bobby "Boris" Picket and the Crypt Kickers was one of the very few songs that became a smash hit on the charts on more than one occasion. It cracked the Billboard charts in the States in December 1962, August 1970 and May 1973. It made the U.K. charts in October 1972 and again in November 2008.

Just Guesting!

Through the years, he did lots of comedy/variety gigs, inc. the Red Skelton show, and singing on Dinah Shore's.

Closer to home, I see that "Monster Mash" by Bobby "Boris" Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers was one of the very few (only?) tunes to reach #1 on the Canadian CHUM charts on more than one occasion. It first reached #1 in October 1962 and then reached #1 again in August 1973. It was CHUM's #13 hit for the 1962 year as a whole and CHUM's #5 hit for the 1973 year as a whole.

The song was produced by Gary Paxton who had recorded the novelty hit "Alley Oop" in 1960. Another interesting sidenote is that Leon Russell is the piano player on the recording.

The artist who did this illustration is Michael Kaluta, well known in comic book circles. He is an incredible artist. I recall reading an interview with him about how this illustration was done early in his career. After it saw print someone pointed out to him that he has a vampire materializing in front of a cross!! LOL!!!
