I hope you guys like this, it was a true passion project!
I got turned onto the whole old Hollywood scene in a big way initially by watching the Dracula dvd w/ commentary by David J Skal.
I was touched by the insight he gave on Helen. And I later learned, he respectfully didn't even address the saddest elements of her life.
Now I love good horror film commentaries. My second fave was Greg Mank's on "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein" - Universal screwed Bela!
"A Song for Helen" by VINTAGE QUIXOTIC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSMzkOu_wvE#)
By the way, I'm currently wrapping a song called "Bela Lugosi's Alive"
That was great. Great music and great video. She was such a beautiful woman.
O hey thanks. I was thinking noone here liked it. I'm workin on the video for "Hollywood Babylon" now, after that's its right onto "Bela Lugosi" I'll share that here first!
Very, very nice! Beautiful song for a beautiful woman. Such a tragic end to her life. Really sad....
You did a great job with this!!
I really like it. It's a nice tribute to a woman that never got to be appreciated by the monster kids of today. Image how popular she would have ben at a monster con.
I look forward to more of your work.
Rob
Thanks, Illoman. I agree, hers was a tragic life.
That's an intriguing thought, Monsterphile, Helen at monster con! Or, if she was young today, with a modern hairstyle, those kids would love her.
I actually find some of her acting kind of modern. Like, in Dracula, where they first meet the count, she gives a facial expression like, "Okaaay, this guy's a character!" and when she's in Lucy's bedroom comically impersonating the Count's accent ("It reminds me of the broken embattlements...") - that's not in the script. I'd like to know how that came up, because obviously it became one of the most iconic voices to impersonate, and Helen was the first!
That was very beautiful and moving ISM! Your song is great-I am looking forward to hearing more!

Thank you, so much, RedKing!
Mixing "Bela Lugosi" now, and it actually sounds scary! That wasn't necessarily the intent, believe it or not.
Looking forward to your opinion of that one!
