Character actor Bill Irwin passed away at the age of 96. Irwin, who was my favorite "old man" actor, played the grumpy old man on SEINFELD (when they decided to go to the nursing home to befriend elderly people) and was the elevator operator in the fantasy film SOMEWHERE IN TIME. You may not know his name, but you certainly know his wonderfully memorable face:

Nope, not that fella! Bill Irwin who passed is the one who looked like that one Muppet character--was it Statler or was it Hilton?
The late Bill Irwin appeared in endless bit parts on tv--he was in 4 TWILIGHT ZONE episodes, 14 GUNSMOKE episodes, and 2 or 3 ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW! His final appearance was on an episode of MY NAME IS EARL.
