This might just be an interesting year. Our Wedding Anniversary is on New Years Eve. We drove from Lafayette to Muncie (90 miles), then from Muncie to Ft. Wayne (65 miles) for my brother-in-law's birthday party. Hardly anyone showed up and my wife and her relatives were all p***** off at each other most of the evening. I managed to get through my rendition of "Wild Thing" by The Troggs during the karaoke segment, though! About 1:45 AM, instead of spending the night as we had planned, my wife promptly decides to drive 120 miles back to Lafayette - in a cold drizzling rain! Luckily, she only had one small glass of champagne, so we mostly just had to "watch out for the other guy". We saw maybe 3 or 4 other cars on the road that night. We made it home safely and spent a lazy New Years Day together.
Last night, at 2 AM, my daughter calls from Muncie. She & her boyfriend were at a friend's house and someone broke into her car and got away with quite a few of her personal belongings, including her PURSE and everything in it! You know how many times her Mom & I have told her to never leave her purse in the car?! She was in tears and the police were there in minutes (it's a crappy neighborhood). We think we've gotten everything straightened out with her bank, i.d, credit cards, etc. Needless to say, I couldn't sleep last night and all day long, I've been having very bad thoughts about the ________ who did this. I need to blow off steam right now - and lo and behold - I just heard from the wife of my best friend (who I haven't seen in a year) and she informs me that he & his son wants to come and hang out tomorrow (Tuesday)! So, things might be looking up already! Looking forward to seeing them and it should take away some stress.
Anyway, sorry to drone on - just had to share another event with my UMA pals.
I know there's already been some sad news for some of you out there.
Here's to some GOOD news for all of us!
I'm sorry to hear about your hardships UP, but you did make me smile at your Wild thing reference because my sister has a small cuddly stuffed ape who sings that very song while trapped in a cage and is wearing heart shaped glasses while he vibrates away. Here's hoping that things take a turn for the better and that the badness is already out of the way for the coming year.
Sorry to hear, big guy. That is a drag to say the least. 2011 is still very fresh, and keep positive vibes going, pal.
Did I mention it's clobberin' time?
Man oh man, UP- getting robbed is such a crappy way to start the year. Sorry to hear about your daughter's personal invasion :( I have said the same thing to my kids and they roll their eyes at me. The thing I repeat the most is "it's not your driving I'm worried about, it's the other drivers", and of course it takes a real life wake-up call sometimes, but we do the best we can. Both my "kids" are 29 years old as of yesterday. They are the same age until Feb. when my daughter turns 30, and they will still get my unsolicited advice until I'm totally senile! ( maybe soon). Anyway, I'm glad we have a place to blow off steam! Who knows what would happen if we didn't? We might take it out on a Walmart greeter or something!! yikes!
sorry to hear the bad news, I hope they catch the scumbag who did it....either way, in the end..he or she will get theirs.
We had a crappy December, but things worked out, despite how dire it looked at one part.. We should have a much better 2011, however. Here's hopping that you may have gotten over the worst part of the year right at the start.

Actually, the car was burglarized and the person then committed theft. Robbery is when there is an actual theft from you in person. The same feeling of violatin, but much more frightening, IMO. Either way, it IS a crappy thing to have happen to anyone. Hopefully the person(s) will get caught and get punished
Rob
UP, look at it this way...........things can only go up from here brother!
That's what keeps me goin', brother Scatter!
Thanks for the good vibes, gang!
i am so sorry to hear that your year hasn't gotten off on the right foot, i hope that things will improve as the year progresses :(
Primate, we all feel the pain with you. Let's look at it like Robin Williams did in the movie Garp....the plane crashed into the house and he was ecstatic ! Afterall, what are the chances of that happening again. So look at it this way......you got the worse out of the way....early in the year......beauty and sunshine from here on out! You're gonna have a great 2011! Bud
Here's hoping you're right, bigbud! Thanks for the encouragement!

You could really mess this guy up. color photocopy a 100 dollar bill. layer on gunpowder evenly, a thin layer on blank paper the same shade as money. insert in the middle of it some sandpaper around a quick strike match. Put a bundler around it. Make it look like a bankroll. clear tape a fishing line to the end of the match. attach the fishing line to the bottom of her purse. When the robber goes to pull the money out, he yanks on the line, pulls the match through the sandpaper, igniting it and blowing the perp's hand off.
