British actor Pete Postlethwaite passed away at the age of 64 after a long battle with cancer. Pete was wonderful in character parts-- he was considered by many critics, and certainly by his fellow performers, as one of the finest actors of the present day. But for many audience members it was also his unusual rawboned looks which made him a remarkable screen presence. One of my regrets is that he portrayed only one Dickens character--Montague Tigg in MARTIN CHUZZLEWIT--as I always thought that his looks and style suited him for any of a number of Dickens roles. Members here may remember him from a wide variety of films which include JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, TREASURE ISLAND (1990), LAST OF THE MOHICANS (1992), LOST WORLD:JURASSIC PARK, DRAGONHEART, AEON FLUX, and the 2006 version of THE OMEN. He also did a number of Shakespearean roles. A tremendous loss to the film world--rest in peace, Pete.

Really enjoyed him as well in "The Usual Suspects"
RIP
Aw man, I love him! Recently saw him in "Brassed Off" and always enjoyed seeing him pop up in movies when I didn't expect it. I'll miss ol' Mr, Postlethwaite. R.I.P. Pete.
