French horror director Jean Rollin passed away Wednesday. Rollin's films were never widely distributed in the US and were usually heavily edited. Most of his movies are dream-like combinations of sex, nudity, vampirism and gore with art-film sensibilities, and beautiful settings usually with little in the way of cohesive plots. His films are very different than other contemperary Euro directors like Jess Franco or Naschy. His films include Lips of Blood, Rape of the Vampire and Living Dead Girl (the inspiration for Rob Zombie's well known song). Here is a link to a nice obituary with several trailers for his films.

Not a big fan, but Living Dead Girl is a great flick.
He directed and acted. Saw him in a modified version of his ZOMBIE LAKE some years ago, the only Rollin work I've ever seen. Rest now, M. Rollin.
R.I.P. a very underrated director.
