Heh, let's try and keep our minds out of where most guys' minds go when we hear "bust" and focus!
The "Masks and Busts" forum was set up with the idea that masks and busts that are 1:1 scale, more or less, could be discussed. A small, model size bust fits more into the model kit forum, even though it's not really a kit, and it is a bust. This is not to diminish anyone's fine work, but a bust that might be used on a full scale figure would be more suited to this forum.
Sorry, my bad! I should have realized that the pairing of masks and busts would refer to a 1:1 scale. Thanks for the clarification.
What would be the appropriate term for my pieces? I do them in a bust style, but they're small
OH, well I suggest you don't go looking in the model kit section next, because there may be things there that should be elsewhere........ maybe........ I'm never sure. I tend to put all "kits" in the model kit section (now) and leave masks and busts to you "mask" guys and girls. But if I'm on the wrong track, then feel free to set me straight. Just try and do it nicely. ;)

Dr Madd, "bust" is the correct term, regardless of size. But small busts are sold alongside resin kits and such and are more a staple of the modeling hobby. The collectors of masks also collect 1:1 scale busts. Some mask makers work in silicone and there are latex busts as well. That's not to exclude resin or plaster busts, but the idea of setting up this forum was for masks, and there are a lot of busts which fall into the mask category as well.
The collectors of masks also collect 1:1 scale busts, but often do not collect smaller scale busts. The collectors of model kits and garage kits often buy scale model busts, but don't collect masks. The difference being the niche in the hobby, not the terminology.
Maybe put "1:1" or "Lifesize" in the category sub-head?

The people who collect the latex bust and the people who collect the scale model resin bust are probably different people. They are both busts, but the idea of these forums is for them to appeal to the collectors of that particular niche. It's all great monster stuff, whatever you collect. Both the resin bust and the latex one are very cool, but they tend to appeal to different collectors.
I tend to collect toys, and useful objects pertaining to monsterdom, like drinking glasses
Dr. Madd, drinking glasses and "useful stuff" might fit into the MEMORABLE MEMORABILIA section well. If it's non-toy, non-kit, non-bust, non-ummmm--not sure--anyone can try putting those non-fitting items over at MEM MEM. We here at the UMA aim to please! Whatever you've got that's monster-y, we want to see it!

I always assumed the smaller ones were statues in bust form not true busts. But I like big, small and everything in between. I guess you could say I'm just a bust man.

Its kind of a personal preference thing, but I tend to put things like games, craft kits and little collectibles like glasses in with toys. In Mem Mem I would put things like books, mags, records, posters, props, etc.

Hello Mike this is Dave A.K.A poppydave. Thank u so much for your comment on my monster. I made him from scratch, and it wasnt easy. I wanted to make him as close as possible to the Karloff Frankenstein. Needless to say by the looks of it the end result payed off.
