Title: Leslie Nielsen
Post by: Scatter on November 28, 2010, 09:19:01 PM
Canadian comedian and actor Leslie Nielsen has died after complications due to pneumonia.

The 84-year-old Naked Gun actor died in a Florida hospital this morning, TMZ reports.

His family confirmed the reports to a Canadian radio station.

Nielsen was suffering from pneumonia for more than a week.

He rose to fame with roles in the Flying High and Naked Gun film franchises.

I'm very saddened to learn this. RIP Mr Nielson. And thanks for the memories.

Wow, I'm shocked. He always looked so...good.

Made me laugh in some of the greatest comedies ever, and of course his roles in Forbidden Planet and Creepshow kicked butt.

Thanks for the memories.

I concur , Forbidden Planet is one of the best 50's Sci-Fi movies IMO and Wrongfully Accused one of my fave comedies from the last 20+ years.

Thanks for the fun.

Monstermutt, and don't call him Shirley!     I am going to miss his performances he was always good for a laugh, now if only I knew how to spell a breaking wind noise. R.I.P Mr Nielsen. Also don't forget his Dark intruder film that was also a great little horror.

A fine leading man in romantic or heavy roles, and then a brilliant comedy actor--Nielsen covered it all and did it with tremendous class and more than a dash of genius.  "Don't call me Shirley" will live along with "Who's on First?" and "I shot an elephant in my pajamas..." as a memorable classic comedy line.  Rest in peace, Mr. Nielsen!

Title: Leslie Nielsen dies at age of 84 - Star of FORBIDDEN PLANET

Sad news.....

Mr. Nielsen starred as the commander of the spaceship (the United Planets Cruiser C-57D) in the Forbidden Planet which, in my opinion, was THE best sci-fi film ever.....

It seems that Leslie Nielson has been a part of my life forever. From Forbidden Planet, The Poseidon Adventure, Airplane, Creepshow, Naked Gun and lots of appearances on my favorite 60's and 70's TV shows I'm going to miss him big time.

May he rest in peace.

He visited my college last year! Leslie Nielson was a hilarious guy. I was so ticked when I heard about this. My best friend dropped me a line about his passing. Still can't believe it. This guy had such a diverse career, it's difficult to contemplate all he's actually done in film and television. Just plain sad. I ought to watch Airplane.

Shirley he will be missed.  I met him at Chiller and, while he is a great guy, all he did that weekend was complain about aches and pains.  He may have been having problems back then. RIP.

So sad to hear this, he seemed like he had a great sense of humor. It would be hard on many actors to go from leading man to comedy, but Mr. Nielsen appeared to do so graciously. He will be missed.

I bumped into Mr Nielsen at a hotel once. This is how the conversation went as we passed through a doorway at the same time.

Drew Bludd: Hello.
Leslie Nielsen: Hello.
Drew Bludd: How are you today?
Leslie Nielsen: Fine, thank you. How are you?
Drew Bludd: Just fine!
Leslie Nielsen: Very good!

Okay, so its not much.
But still - I bumped into Leslie Nielsen at a hotel once.
