I run a small up and coming company called Monsters are good.

We specialize in classic monster shirts pins and patches, we also offer graphic design for hire services. The website is still being built, but the shirt section is fully operational. While I figured this would be a good place to get word out, I am actually looking for some help. I am in need of this wonderful photo of the creature from the black lagoon for a new project. I need a high quality copy. If there is anyone who can help me get my hands on it I would be happy to offer a free shirt from the selection on the website.

If you can help or have any questions about my products email me at sam(*at*)monstersaregood.com
You can get a print/restrike of this shot from several sources . . . not sure about the licensing/copyright issues though.
Thanks for replying! Do you know where these sources could be? I searched ebay to no avail but if you have a lead that would be very helpful. as for the Copyright issues, I'm not terribly concerned about that considering the manner in which I plan on changing the image. Besides most reprints come from 3rd party dealers and I'm sure they dont have the copyrights. If you'd be so obliged I would very much appreciate some feed back on my merch!
I'd try "Movie Star News" in NYC first . . . single largest source for stuff like this on the planet
Or maybe contact someone over at Ben Chapman's website. They used to sell autographed copies of this shot back in the day.
I'm still not having any luck. There are no longer autographed photos on ben chapman's site, for obvious reasons I'm sure. The Movie star news has a bunch of Gillman photos but not that one.
Movie Star News still issues huge printed catalogs of their offerings, the stuff they show online is a fraction of a fraction of what they carry. Call them during business hours and talk to a human.
The same goes for Ben Chapmans site, use the contact info and talk to an actual person if possible. This shot is often referred to as the "Jackie Gleason Shot" as Ben is doing his best "AND AWAAAY WE GO!" impersonation.
Maybe try and see if someone over at Famous Monsters magazine can help you out . . . they've run this shot a ba-zillion times.
