Anyone going?
BK
I'm at least thinking about possibly going. There are just too many horror related shows in the region right now. Last week saw Scare Fest in Lexington, KY, this weekend is Horrorhound in Cincinnati and the following weekend is the Dark Carnival Film Fest in Bloomington, IN. All of this just after Halloween! It's just too much all at one time in the same general area, not to mention the fact that I've been celebrating Halloween since the last week of August.
Most of these shows are going to lose their shirts, but Horrorhound bucked the trend last year and actually had TOO MANY customers for their venue. They have a great guest list this year too. I may have to check it out.
My cuz Sara and I will be hitting Horror Hound briefly, since it's so near. Brian, Rod--hope to see you guys there!
Back from the first day of Horror Hound in Cinci. Pretty darn big crowd there--which promises another huge HH weekend (last year was one of the biggest they've seen, I believe). Talked to wonderful actor Jeffrey Combs, who has done so many fine and/or fun Lovecraftian films--REANIMATOR trio, LURKING FEAR (which he said was not a pleasure to work on--it was filmed in Romania and the weather was freezing), FROM BEYOND, NECRONOMICON, etc.. Very nice guy to talk with. Malcolm MacDowell had an endless line at his table, and I opted to skip him. He's obviously very popular and looked like he was having a good time every time I saw him. Linda Blair also had a LONG line--she spoke at length to every fan who came for an autograph, answering questions, talking about animal rescue work, and so on. I talked to the original Damien, Harvey Stephens, who brought a whole new meaning to the number 666 in the 1976 film THE OMEN. What a great guy! Very friendly and outgoing. I told him I'd just seen him in a segment on the Heritage Auctions show on SyFy. He said he'd had several people talk about that to him. Made him laugh when I told him that I'd been a school librarian/media specialist for 30 years and that I was sure I'd run into a few kids over those years who had the 666 under their hair. Very cool & cheerful guy.
My Cuz Sara (VPDogJoe), her son and his fiancee and I had a great time. We met up with another UMA member, Elizabeth Haney and several of her friends--had supper and drinks in the hotel restaurant--and we all did our fair share of touring the dealers' rooms and seeing the exhibits. A nice GHOSTBUSTERS room, a "circus museum-of-oddities" which featured a very interesting guy who did a human blockhead act (drove spikes and ice picks into his nose!), and of course, as with any con like this, the passing parade of humanity, semi-humanity, and a couple really great dogs--a Boston Bull and a little one who looked like a miniature Pinscher. I always like seeing dogs at cons.
A good time was had by all. Tired out and hitting the hay early tonight. If you CAN go to Horror Hound, there's still two days left of it. I've heard it really doesn't start cookin' 'til Sat., so go go go!
I'm back from Horrorhound, I will add some photos later and comment more. As always, it was great to see Elizabeth and friends, Eric (HMAEA) and a stop on the way home to Mr Taylor's house.

A pleasure to have you and Elizabeth and gang at Taylor's House of Horrors, Brian! I surely enjoyed having you tour the collection!

Horrorhound is always a fun show. Meeting up with friends is even more enjoyable. I arrived Saturday at noon after driving through fog and getting stuck in traffic around Dayton. I met up with Elizabeth, Mitch and Jessica from the Horror Society and their friends Dean and Gargalese. I started walking through the dealer room and saw Eric from HMA. I always try to find out something unknown and interesting about the guests before talking with them. George Wilbur was one of the guests that has an incredible resume. Jennifer Rubin was very sweet, Danielle Harris is so adorable and I'm in love with Ms. Monster the Horror Host and her Monster Melons. I must have a thing for blue skinned girls with red hair. Linda Blair was not always pleasant. Bill Mosley and Malcolm McDowell were very cool.
Saturday night was when the pool party. I got a kick out of Kitty Zombie going down the water slides. The party then moved to the lobby. Hula Hoops and alcohol. Hanging out with us were guests Harvey Stephens, Douglas Tait and Johnathan Breck. Harvey got a tab bit rambunctious. You have to love the internet.

At 3:30, I had enough, I guess I missed a few more crazy things.
Sunday, you just kind of walk around half dead and we kind of laugh about how stupid we all were the night before. When I left Horrorhound, we (Elizabeth, Mitch, Jessica, Dean and Gargalese went to Robert Taylors House of Horrors. Robert has an awesome collection. Lots of great memorabilia. I believe Uncle Forry is living on through him.
Looking forward to the next one!
I do agree Horrorhound is always a Fabulous Show!! I really enjoyed it!!!
