Post by: Opera Ghost on September 14, 2010, 12:38:28 PM

Actor Harold Gould, a veteran of television, film, and stage has died . He was 86. Gould is likely best known for playing Martin Morganstern, the father of the title character on the sitcom "Rhoda." He also had a recurring role on "The Golden Girls" as Miles Webber, the boyfriend of Betty White's character Rose Nylund. Gould was nominated for five primetime Emmys over the course of his career. He appeared as the con man Kid Twist in the 1973 film "The Sting." Gould died Saturday at Motion Picture and Television Fund's retirement home in Woodland Hills, Calif.

He was in a ton of movies and episodes of TV shows.  He was the original Howard Cunningham in the episode called "Love and the Happy Days" on Love, American Style before it was made into the series Happy Days where the part was played by Tom Bosley.

I remember him as playing a lot of antagonistic charcaters in some Disney movies.

RIP Mr. Gould

A very fine character actor--and yes, I surely recall seeing him in many MANY tv shows.  Always dependable, a memorable grouch--and an occasional friendly "avuncular" role!  Rest in peace, Mr. Gould!

I remember Mr. Gould most from MARY TYLER MOORE, he always brought a laugh.  Now he has a part making the Angels laugh.  Rest in Peace.

I had the genuine pleasure of meeting, and working with, Hal Gould on a live recreation of X-1's "Mars is Heaven" not long ago. He seemed a very decent man, and every whit of his chops was intact.

Thanks, sir; rest well.

A great "CHARACTER MAN!" They could always count on him to deliver.
Craig, so happy that you got to share some radio time with him.

Yep, Dan'l - I wasn't just being flattering becuase of Hal Gould's passing; he WAS a nice guy, and he DID still have all his gifts.

It was a great show; terrific Bradbury story, and top-shelf cast directed by Gregg Oppenheimer, that also included Luci Arnaz and OTR vets Arthur Anderson, Shirley Mitchell, & Don Buka.

(If anyone would like to see & hear it, it's DVD # A-14, here:

Best,
