That's not too bad, while out shopping today my wife and I went into our local Michael's and already bought some Halloween stuff. I figure, if you see something you want now buy it, 3 months from now it might not be there. But, Halloween at the end of July is a bit much.
Glad to know it's starting. I'm going to drag the wife out tomorrow to all th stores and start getting stuff.
By the end of August, you'll start seeing Christmas stuff on the shelves.
Haha- I was just uploading photos to Facebook (I'm only friends with a few people) BECAUSE- My family celebrated "the birthday that wouldn't die" with me today and my grandson gave me a big ol' gift bag with a severed foot, severed hand and a bag of mini skulls! My daughter-in-law said he picked them out himself at The Dollar Tree and I was shocked that they would have these things there!
Dollar Tree severed hands/feet...WTF? I picked up 2 bags of severed fingers from there the other day but didn't see any severed hands/feet....Looks like I'll be checking back there soon!! Never hurts to have a few spare body parts laying around.
They weren't the fancy rubber feet and hands, they're kind of blow-mold with bloody accents at the severing point. I was so happy that my grandson got me something he knew I would LOVE! I'm not sure where Dollar Tree is around here, but I think it was inside a mall. I'm gonna go get some more for sure!
Do the Dollar Tree busts look anything like this?...

I'll take a look at the Christmas stuff next week and report in.

For those of you who do not know, Michael's used to have discount coupons in each Sunday Newspaper, I know this was in the LA Times. I've heard that they're switching to online coupons but have not confirmed this. They usually have a 40% coupon on one non-sale items with some exclusions and Halloween is not usually excluded, but Halloween does usually go on "Sale" very early, so best to get a coupon early and hit the store soon, before the Halloween items are Sale discounted.

I saw the Michael's stuff out today. Plus there tons of Hallowe'en costumes stores popping
up every where here. Which is, kind of unusual for Vegas.
Has anyone noticed that the vampire bust from Dollar tree, slightly resembles the actor/vampire from the film "The House that dripped blood"??
I am speaking of the episode, in which the low budget actor finds the cursed vampire cape...
As I began to paint this bust, I noticed how more and more, it begins to look like him..
I went to The Dollar Tree near my house and except some stupid looking generic scarecrows they had nada.

My Dollar Tree has nothing. But, I know which story you are referring too. The Cloak, with Ingrid Pitt.

It's been about a month since I've been. The Hollywood Magic shop closed (partner disputes) and a 3rd opened an annex of sorts inside of Hollywood Toy & Costume. Nothing outstanding thus far in HT&C
Hallowe'en Town has increased their overall stock, but need to drop by to see if anything new and stellar. Don't know that I recall Halloween experience.

A friend of mine told me the Magic shoppe closed. I was very disappointed to find out. It was

Ran to Michael's, Target and California Do-it Center to check for halloween. Only Michaels has some, and it looks like it might be some of last years left overs which they're blowing out, but prices did not look that attractive. They did have some 5" or 6" granite-stone looking busts of Frankenstein, Drac, a witch, and either wolfman or Mummy--can't remember now, at 1.99 each. Looks like the foam pumpkins have jumped up in price.

items last Hallowe'en. ededed
Ok, my husband and I went to Garden Ridge yesterday and they seem to have their whole Halloween inventory out on display! The carvable fake pupkins have definitely gone up in price! The medium one was $19.99! Last year it was about $12.99. All the new inflatables were out- I didn't see anything too new looking except they had the same tall thinghost that was in the Grandin Road catalog for $99 for $59. There were alot of glitter pumpkins, candles and wreaths. But we only stocked up on the $1.99 creepy cloth. The fog machines looked like last years, boxes all toe up. They had the regular styro tomstones and some hanging type zombies/skeletons and the 5 ft. tall motion activated butler. In spite of only buying creepy cloth, we had fun looking.
Our BIG LOTS put their Halloween stuff out two weeks ago. I hope it's just the stuff they had back in storgae because if that's all they got then it will be a sad Halloween.
Michaels has their SPookytown stuff out and it is kind of depressing too. THere's some nice stuff but not a lot of it. They have a Creature from the Black Lagoon riding a blimp. Last year he was in the back of a big wheel pickup truck. Is nothing sacred?
Picked up some $1 body parts from Dollar Tree as well as a skull ice cube tray...we actually melted down some Hershey's chocolate chips and used it to make some chocolate skulls earlier this evening...What's better than chocolate skulls?
Also over the weekend I went to Big Lots, they had the "Christopher Lee" sign ($7 for those wondering) but I passed on it (for now..LOL) in order to buy this (cost was $15)~

Sadly, I think it's going to be a slow year for new Halloween stuff this year. We're entering a third year of this Recession and retail spending on stuff like this is way down. I hope I'm wrong, because Halloween is my favorite time of year and I love getting out and looking at all the stuff (even if I can't afford to buy much of it). I look forward to seeing the new inventive stuff that comes out each year.
Keep this thread going so we all know what's out and when stuff starts hitting shelves. The Halloween stuff is out at Cracker Barrel Restaurants. Nothing at Target or Wal Mart yet. I haven't really seen anything new yet.
Thanks for the detailed report, zombiehorror! BTW- I did not enter the contest a couple weeks ago, just so you would have a better chance! Hahaha :) Congratulations on your major award! That Pub sign is cool and I'm pretty sure I did not see it at our BL. My husband and I went around the section 2 or 3 times, so I guess we didn't get the high end stuff. The BL we went to was about 15-20 miles from our house and it was FILTHY! We hand sanitized as soon as we got to the car....bleh But I was happy with the stuff we got. I also went to Lowes over the weekend ans saw their stuff. The witch was pretty nice and the lighted sign post was awesome- but pricey! They also had shaking rubber heads and a couple inflatables. Nothing mind blowing.

Word over on the Halloween Forum is that Walmart is looking to take on Halloween this year! It obviously hasn't gone past their radar that a store like Spirit, as well as other Halloween specialty stores are still turning a profit...even at their ridiculously overpriced mark ups! Walmart will have the 6' Gemmy Jason for $180 whereas most specialty stores will be charging at least $250!
Not sure how much of this you'll actually be able to find on the shelves but here is Walmart's online Halloween offerings....you won't have to look to far past the first page since everything after that is cutesy/sports team stuff~

Wow!!!! I really want that skeleton butler! And that airblown ghost is on the Grandin Road website for $99. I'm glad we are all scouting stuff out. This is very efficient :)
Yes, I got some of those goodies at Dollar Tree also...and Big Lots has some Halloween stuff out too, nice and early, the way I like it. $20 misting skulls at Big Lots...oh, I always wanted a misting skull with green LED lighting, so I bought one. Very cool! I saw the same skulls for $30 at the Halloween Club stores, and that price will probably go up as Halloween nears. So the Big Lots prices are pretty reasonable.

Mickey changes colors...ooooh!
They also had a Mickey jack o'lantern, which I'm now thinking I should pick up too. The power of Walt compels me!
Allright Moonshadow, I went to the loser Walgreens closest to my house today and all they had was the gel window clings with mickey and minnie, which I bought, and candy! I will search every Walgreens in the tri-county area for one of those color changing ghosts or die trying! That is adorable! I'll report back when/if I find one. And if I don't, I will need the address of your Walgreens and a tank of gas. :)

These were usually a candy that your mom would buy...always thought of as a more adult treat. I discovered them at a young age and would steal one (from my mom, not the store) any chance I would get! For years I thought they were no longer in production but thru the miracle of the world wide web found out they are still made and available at Walgreens no less!
I actually looked it up-haha! It looks ok, except for the hazelnut. I'm not sure about hazelnut- it seems like a sophisticated flavor. Maybe that's why it's an "adult" treat. When I was looking it up, I came upon a candy discussion board! It cracked me up that people discuss their feelings about candy! I mean I know I sound like a pot calling a kettle or something, but you can't keep candy forever and enjoy it the way I enjoy my monster stuff! Candy melts and gets moldy and all. Anyways, I would be willing to try Toffifay, and I'd probably like it. Now I'm all curious about it :)

Elvis did that once........he fell in love with these outrageously priced, calorie dense Peanut butter, bacon, banana and jelly sandwiches out in Denver. So he and the gang are out in Memphis craving these things, so he grabs everyone and drives them to the airport. He calls ahead to the restaurant, flies across the country and has the sandwiches meet them at the airport. \\
They chow down, head back to Memphis.
Is that asking so much?

Awesome Charlotte!! Where's my invite?? HUH?? ;)

I just violated the Dollar Tree !! I ran through there with a mission and knocked all the old ladies with carts, yes carts, out of the way with my overloaded hand basket (which I'll need soon on the trip to He**). Yahooooooo! YESSS! Great to hear you got some of these guys. I saw tons of monster characters, but these Franks just look awesome. For ONE freakin dollar?! Are you kidding me? Haha. Glad I could help. Now...when's this party? ;)
The party date is tba- but if you're in Killa Rica, Ga. in October- you'll find it.
It's really Villa Rica- I was trying to be cool in front of the monster kids

Elvis did that once........he fell in love with these outrageously priced, calorie dense Peanut butter, bacon, banana and jelly sandwiches out in Denver. So he and the gang are out in Memphis craving these things, so he grabs everyone and drives them to the airport. He calls ahead to the restaurant, flies across the country and has the sandwiches meet them at the airport. \\
They chow down, head back to Memphis.
Is that asking so much?
Elvis was awesome.
Wow, you guys are WAY down there. Hehe. I'm in Philly.
Can somebody post pics of the Dollar Store vampire, mummy and whatever else you guys found? That Frankenstein is pretty awesome!
Rod
(http://i38.tinypic.com/2d7yahk.jpg) They're kind of cutsie, but great for kids!
(http://i34.tinypic.com/2nkqcup.jpg) I haven't unfolded the vampire yet, but I can if you need more info :)
Hit two Dollar Trees this am and came up with nada on the Frankie! I did end up with around $15 of other junk though! I also got a 5' jointed vampire & skeleton, an 18" table topper witch, some kiddie window clings and a few other cut outs to decorate the interior of the house. Oh and 4 packs of Creepy Cloth....never enough Creepy Cloth...though I prefer the older "scrim" type over the newer netting stuff.
Hey, be on the look out for the new Dracula PEZ (I posted a topic in the NEw Toys section). He ain't Universal, but it's a start.
What's up with that Dollar tree Frankenstein? He isn't wearing his boots. In fact, he's barefoot! I don't believe I've ever seen Frankenstein without his boots before? I like the graphics a great deal, but I'm not sure how I feel about a barefoot and fancy free Frankenstein in my monster room? No shoes, no shirt, no service is my motto - unless of course your Helen Chandler, Julie Adams, or Elsa Lanchester. >:D

Maybe this particular Frankenstein is the Summer O' Love version? The Frankenstein NOT afraid
to get his feet wet. Lol! Oh wait!!!!!! Franky doesn't like water! Well, you know the rest. ;)
Hillbilly Frankenstein?
Maybe Frank's shoes finally became old and unwearable? Let's face it, the shoes probably
reeked! Ewwwwwwwwwwww! :P
Hey Terry - I'll save you some running around. None of the Dollar Trees around here have that Frank yet. The good news is, there's a Famous Footwear nearby.

Zombiehorror, keep hope alive! :)
Terry, the small one is a 'table topper', thus just a torso...but the big 5' one is a full head-to-toe guy... :)
For some weird reason, I'm attracted to Frankenstein's sweet green feet!

That's just wrong!!!! Again, ewwwwwwwwwww!!!! :P
Heck - for $1.00 I wouldn't care if Frank had no pants on! Very good Frankenstein likeness (not Karloff or Strange but cool just the same - bolts in the correct spot and everything).

Interesting concept. Fankenstein pantless. Lol!
CreepyJeff- You went too far and I salute you! Pantsless Frankenstein will now be the "trigger phrase" that sets of laughter fits, whenever I get nervous! I hope this happens to other people, but whenever I get outside my comfort zone and it's inconvenient- something like pantsless Frankenstein pops into my head and that's all she wrote- I LOVE IT!
Well then we would finally see that enormous schwanstucker!
Sweet mystery of life, at last I've found you....

Wooffffff!!!
WTF?? I'm 400 miles from home and visit a Dollar Tree in Muscatine, Iowa and still no freaking Frankensteins!?? In the good news column though, I did pick up a 400w fogger w/32 oz of fluid for $20 and two lighted heads (skull/witch) to hang in the windows...pics when I get home...that I think graphically capture an old school vibe ($8 apiece btw) at Menards!
My wife upon my return asked, "Another fogger? How many do you need?". I'm pretty sure that was a rhetorical question...I mean she can't seriously want to know the answer to that question.
TJ Maxx / Home Goods has some very familiar looking folks in Nutcracker form. I picked up these two. The Wolf Man is my favorite in the bunch.
They aren't licensed, but they might as well be. They are close enough to the licensed Universal stuff. I'd imagine that if Universal did license out to a nutcracker company, they wouldn't look as good as these.

Of course, General. I will report any further findings... I hope there will be many.
I picked the Wolfman Nutcracker a couple years ago at HomeGoods but they didn't have the Drac. I want it. It's quite a sincere effort - blood on his fangs, medallion and ring. In fact - look at it and imagine finding a non-cartoony head for a nice custom piece....hmmm
Where's the official "The Monster Squad" Wolf Man's Got Nards Nutcracker?
Nice find, I think if I brought those home my wife would be cracking my ---s with them. Oh Oh don't know if I should have said that here. Sorry
*high five* Zombiehorror!

Dude...dont worry about it...that's pretty tame compared to some other stuff that's been posted here...not here...in this thread, but
here as in the whole area of here... /me says as he waves his arms in a circular motion...
;D
Thanks for the info Doc, but what I said would be the truth and I would be talking in a VERY high voice.

I saw these in Target tonight and had to share. It is monster Puffs -yes, facial tissue.

Besides the generic cutesy Frankenstein and Dracula, I also saw a Mummy. Some of the packages seemed to have those lenticular cards on them -where the picture changes as you angle it different directions.
