Title: Hidden Horror Gems
Post by: Mike...In 3-D! on January 17, 2019, 03:45:00 PM
What are some of your favorite, lesser known horror flicks? I'm having a hard time finding older, quality films that I haven't seen yet. Please and thank you!

On my favorite lesser-known Horror films, is, Carnival of Blood-1972. There is a copy of the film on a SWV (Something Weird Video)DVD. Actually, I would not say that it was a quality film, just really entertaining and low-budget. Burt Young (Rocky-1976) is in the film.

Not really lesser known to us fans, but I love THE SENTINEL (1977) and it's rarely shown on cable anymore.  If you've never seen it, I highly recommend it.

I love The Sentinel! I actually checked that and Race With the Devil out because of The 'Burbs.

Cool. I love RACE WITH THE DEVIL too. Saw that and THE SENTINEL at drive-ins back in the '70s.

The Sentinel is a really good and creepy film. The scene with Bevery D'Angelo cracks me up every time I watch the film.

I was talking about it in another thread here, but I watched The Clairvoyant (1935) again here recently and forgot how much I truly enjoyed it. You have an interesting story featuring Claude Rains in his Invisible Man-prime with the gorgeous and ever wonderful Fay Wray two years removed from Kong. Plus some great supernatural themes that aren't explained away as in other films of this type.

Very underrated and pretty much forgotten outside of these circles.

Not a lost Horror gem but something interesting to note with this film is the shot of Warren William in the opening credits to The Wolf Man was lifted from this film. Skip to 34:02-34:09!

I'll be darned! Good eye, Criss!  :)

Thanks for the link, too! A Whale film I've never seen.
