I did this vampire sibling double feature yesterday:





The first I enjoyed as I like Otto Kruger in almost any role (Murder My Sweet, Another Thin Man etc.). As for the second viewing, meh.

I think they are both underrated.

Am I the only one who enjoys Son of Dracula? I know it's Chaney Jr. and he doesn't exactly fit....but I just love how different the film is.

Son Of Dracula is one of the best horrors all around of the 1940's and it is one of Universal's stronger efforts. It has a noirish/Southern gothic feel to it that creates a lot of atmosphere. The cast is one of the better ones of the later Universals and despite the shortcomings of Chaney's Count, he still manages to do more with the character than John Carradine does in the later HOUSE films.
