Savini produced some great practical effects in the film the Prowler.

First Signal (2020) - Trailer

Awful! Imagine a movie with an intriguing science fiction concept where 100% of the "action" consists of talk, with 80% of the talk taking place in one low budget boardroom. Imagine then that the actors are unattractive and in many cases don't particularly fit their role. That's how you get a movie that's at best a boring waste of time. (And why and how aliens choose to fly SR-71 Blackbirds across inter-stellar space is never explained.)

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (2008) - Never felt like watching this as the original is my #1 favorite sci-fi classic. Decided to give it a try anyhow the other night. I've always liked Jennifer Connelly and Keanu Reeves (while maybe not the greatest actor but seems a nice guy in real life).  The film itself was about what I expected.  Not horrible, but not memorable either.

THE LONG HAIR OF DEATH (1965) - Beautifully filmed Barbara Steele euro-horror. Perhaps a little slow in the middle, but overall very satisfying.

AC: what gangster films have you been watching? You can post in the "Last non-monster movie" thread. After horror films/monster movies gangster films are my second fav genre. I enjoy the vintage black and white films all the way to the Coppola, Scorsese, DePalma epics.

Scream (2022) - I really can't praise this film enough. They hit all the right marks, and paid loving homage to Wes Craven's baby. Definitely the best one since the original. It makes up for that dreadful Halloween Kills. It helps if you watch the 1st Scream before seeing this one. Hell, all 4 previous films are referenced with plenty of Easter eggs for the fans. See it on the big screen.
