The Spectre (DC) - The character's been around fro decades and in more recent years, DC found ways to use him as something more than a costumed hero.

I thought the Bronze Age series in Adventure Comics featuring the art of Jim Aparo was simply fabulous.

Green Lantern/Greem Arrow (DC) - SPeaking of Neal Adams - - His run on this team up was phenomenal and changed how comics were done and viewed.  The two heroes tangled with some serious issues when other comics were still fluffing around.

Truth. Then there was the fantastic artwork of Neal Adams as well.

3. Blackhawk (can't explain why -- just loved them)
4. Challengers of the Unknown (especially drawn by Bob Brown)
5. Batman (after Dick Grayson left though I really like the Grayson character after he left)
6. Space Ranger (in Tales of the Unexpected - another Bob Brown drawn character)
7. Flash (Infantino years)
8. Green Lantern (Gil Kane years)
9. Hawk and Dove (late 60s - these two were so much like my brother and I)
10.  Legion of Super Heroes.  (I could wax on for pages about these guys)

I do like Marvel but as you can tell I am more of a DC fan.  For Marvel, my favorites were Spidey and Daredevil.

OK, I suppose I should do this one.  Though I'm more a fan of cartoonists and specific runs of books by certain creators, than I am of the characters themselves.  But here goes.

Batman (well, he did pay the rent for 11 years!)
Superman ('60s version)
Metamorpho (Haney/Fradon/Trapani)
Plastic Man (Jack Cole's original run -- plus Staton, Fradon and Barta versions)
Spider-man (Ditko!)
Dr. Strange  (Ditko!)
Thor (Kirby)
Daredevil (Wood)
Hawkman (Kubert)
Ultra the Multi-Alien!

Were those the picks of anybody else, I would have said "Cool!", but the only comment you're going to get from me is "Typical!"

Don't know how I managed to leave Kirby's Capt. America off the list -- but don't know which one I'd drop to make room for him....
