I have a soft spot for Babs as well, but i think she's ten times more interesting and cool as Oracle. Have you read any of the Birds Of Prey stuff?

Here are some off the top of my head and not in any particular order:
The Vision (Marvel) - More than an android...the Avengers' synthetic man has an unusual mix of powers and had some interesting dealings over the years.
The Badger (Capital/First?) - A hero that was bonkers caught my interest from the beginning. At times there was blood and violence such as I had never experienced in comics (now the norm perhaps?). Always was a fun read.
Daredevil (Marvel) - A blind superhero was an interesting premise to be sure, but the character really came into his own during the Frank Miller years.
The Spectre (DC) - The character's been around fro decades and in more recent years, DC found ways to use him as something more than a costumed hero.
Legion of Super-Heroes (DC) _ OK, so it's a group of super heeroes, but the simple idea of super heroes still existing in the future and from all different planets was just cool to me. Sometimes the series just off, but there were times when it was one of my favorites.
Deadman - He had a bizarre ability to take over thte body of the living, and his main purpose was in trying to solve his own muder (as best as I can recall). It probably didn't hurt that he was illustrated by Neal Adams for a good part of his beginnings.
Green Lantern/Greem Arrow (DC) - SPeaking of Neal Adams - - His run on this team up was phenomenal and changed how comics were done and viewed. The two heroes tangled with some serious issues when other comics were still fluffing around.
Spider-Man (Marvel) - Probably the golden child of the Marvel Universe, Peter Parker for years was every fanboy's connection to super-heroes. Just a kid that got awesome powers but still dealt with being a kid.
the Avengers (Marvel) - Again, a group of heroes, but one that has had some great runs over the years. The Perez & Byrne time period was probably some of my favorites, including some great stuff with aforementioned Vision.
The Elementals (Comico) - AN odd independent title that had a brief popularity, but I enjoyed Bill Willingham's take on these heroes.
Rob
The Man of Tomorrow. Man of Steel. Krypton Kid. Caped Wonder.

Love watching those early marvel cartoons

I remember watching them all as a kid, first run, not reruns.

I know he's very popular with many comic fans but myself I just don't like the comic art of Alex Ross.
:-\
I lean towards the more unorthodox...Kirby, Ditko, Mignola, Corben, Ingels, Cole, etc. for the most part
Well, what Ross does is not really "comic art."
I love many of the folks you list jimm; and Barks, Aparo, Kubert, Infantino, etc.
But Ross is not generally competing with them in the pulp paper/2-D panel format. He's working in classical painting, showing these characters in a "What If?" they existed in the real world way.

I was never a fan of Kirby's 70's style. :'(
I agree. By the seventies Kirby's style was so exaggerated it had become wooden.
:(
I thought the Demon had fantastic art...
Agreed that Jack, late in his career, could tend toward looking like an imitation of himself (think of Elvis and many others!)
But with jimm, I LOVE The Demon - and also his short, semi-autobiographical run on The Losers, which is simply some of the best War Comics EVER.

Notice the strange inclusion of Captain Marvel. The thing is the typical ten to thirteen year old in 1966 would never have heard of Captain Marvel. I very clearly remember "not getting" the occasional isolated reference to "Shazam" in 1964 and I was completely befuddled in 1966 when the Green Hornet was resurrected for TV as if he was some kind of iconic character in popular culture.
:-\
Hep, for one thing I believe that mag was largely reprint, and Warren just scrounged up all the comix stuff they had to cash in on Batmania.
And as far as The Big Red Cheese and Britt Reid:
Cap's comic had run until '53, and the Hornet's radio show until '52, so kid's dads and older brothers spoke of them. Also, The Hornet was running on 100 radio stations in syndication, starting in 1964. It's sorta like how some kids today might know of Gilligan and Mayberry.

Interesting detail. I didn't know the radio show had been resurrected in syndication. I thought TV had completely killed syndicated radio shows by 1960.

Depends upon your father's background I guess. That would have been unthinkable for my father.
:-\
A radio guy named Charlie Michelson was smart...
When the Nets murdered radio to fund tv, he realized that some stations would still want drama. He bought the reruns cheap, and so the Lone Ranger, the Green Hornet, the Shadow, Jack Benny, etc., got new (if smaller) audiences:

Jack Kirby's NEW GODS, with Orion as the very strange hero. Scott Free is part of that mystery, too. I just wish Kirby had a coherent end-tale and had been given the time to deliver it in the original time-frame. I always had the feeling that War Dogs was a cobbled-together shrug-of-his-shoulders attempt to placate Fourth World fans instead of resembling his original vision. If he had one. That's perhaps the bigger IF...
I'd also look at his Jason Blood THE DEMON as another interesting character, and another tale that seemed to go... well... nowhere. Starts good, sputters, fizzles and get left by the wayside, with a seemingly all-to0-familiar excuse of "lack of sales prevents continuation of the promised story..."
Then, uh, why was DC saying, "Oh well, just because the others collapsed 'due to sales', let's have OMAC and all the others..."
Kirby's early 1970s work always gets my highest attention - and the subsequent scrutiny.

Indeed.
OMAC and
Prez (Uggghhhhh!!!) were such crap relative to
New Gods and
Demon.

The problem here is the LP is too big for a standard scanner which is why I had to photograph a few of the pages instead.
Moreover Wonder Woman's antagonist in
Amazons from Space was a one-shot character who was not part of established DC continuity. Therefore you won't find her other than in this LP. But!!! The LP isn't at all scarce and it's often available on Ebay and elsewhere at very reasonable prices. Therefore you can always just buy one!
What's most useful to know though is that the artist for the record sleeve and booklet is none other than the incomparable Neal Adams famous for his work on
Spectre,
Deadman,
Green Lantern - Green Arrow and various
Batman titles. Here are a few of my favourite Neal Adams' covers and other etchings:

Ah, yeah, I forgot an album wouldn't fit a scanner. Wish there was a way to get a better pic of the character. I love finding obscure characters. Can you tell me what they called her or what her powers were?
The name of the woman with the gargantuan hips is Llyra and she's the Queen of the Psi-Women of Regulus-Four. She's about seven feet tall but has no actual super powers. The Psi-Women had journeyed to Earth to spread a disease that prevents men from rising from their hands and knees thus subjugating them to womens' wills. Spreading the disease through the cosmos is what the Psi-Women do to pass the time. Llyra must clearly eat a lot as well to put that much weight on her backside.

Not much love for poor Kal-El here!
"Mighty"? Boy are you out of touch! It's been sixty years since DC's
Superman titles topped collectors' interests. Marvels have dominated the collector market since the mid-1960's.
Incidentally, anyone else willing to venture a list?
???
I actually did this for a comic book project I was working on. I listed by Top Ten Marvel Heroes and Top Ten Marvel Villains and the same for DC. Then I narrowed it down to my Top Ten Heroes (Marvel & DC combined) and Top Ten Villains (Marvel and DC combine). Then I narrowed it down to my Top Ten Characters (heroes and villains, Marvel and DC combined). Here are my Top Ten overall characters for Marvel, then DC, then my Top Ten overall combined.
Heroes (Marvel / DC Combined)
1. Thor
2. Blackbolt
3. Orion of the New Gods
4. Dr. Fate
5. Ikaris
6. Vision
7. Quicksilver
8. Metron
9. Firestorm

Top Ten Villains (Marvel / DC Combined)
1. Galactus
2. Dormammu
3. Kobra
4. Darkseid
5. Ultron
6. Firelord
7. Xorr the God Jewel
8. Black Adam
9. Titan
10. Solaris
Top Ten Character (Marvel / DC Heroes & Villains Combined)
1. Thor
2. Galactus
3. Blackbolt
4. Orion of the New Gods
5. Dormammu
6. Dr. Fate
7. Ultron
8. Kobra
9. Metron
10. Quicksilver
11. Hawkman
12. Ikaris
13. Firestorm
14. Firelord
15. Xorr the God Jewel
I had to make the final one 15 characters because so many were so close, they change over time with characters moving up and down.
All in no particular order, although Thor, Galactus and Black Bolt always take the Top 3 spots. Thor is my all time favorite Marvel hero and Hawkman my nostalgic favorite DC hero. Kobra is the greatest DC villain of all time!

Not in any order...........
1.WOLVERINE
2.GREEN LANTERN
3.SUPERMAN
4.BATMAN
5.CYCLOPS
6.NIGHTCRAWLER
7.MOONKNIGHT
8.SHROUD
9.FERRET
10.IRONMAN
I appreciate the inclusion of Nightcrawler.
Me I like Green Lantern at #2 plus Ferret anywhere on a list!
