I do see what thm is talking about. On the figure his brow is furled at the bridge of the nose. This is what gives it it's angry look to me. Look at the movie close up below and it is definitely expressionless. Being that his mask is dried skin it would not reflect any expression made under the mask. This may have been an artistic decision rather than an inaccuracy.

Exactly! Look at that expressionless image from the film. I'm not an expert, but I assume a dead skin mask would not take on the expression of the wearer. ;D Also, the nose is wrong. It looks like a completely different nose and one that is too well structured for a mask made of dead flesh.

When I used to have dogs one of their favorite treats was dried pig ears (yeah, weird I know). The flesh was hard and brittle and had a very similar look and color to Leatherface's mask. They had no flexibility whatsoever. I imagine his mask would have the same characteristics and would be rather uncomfortable to wear.

Yes, in time, I would imagine the mask would become stiff. Also, imagine the smell. ;D

Yeah, but the film mask was latex. I can see the problem with the face expression.  Also, the mouth opening looks off in some way (too big?).

It seems and judging by the bottom photo, the sculpter was trying to convey a more Heroic aesthetic. I like my Leather face gritty and real.
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

How about this? I virtually re sculpted the eye/eyes. Made it smaller and blackened them. Made the eyebrows into a neutral position. Shrunk the mouth slightly and re sculpted the nose so it is more triangular.

I'm no Leatherface expert...and he isn't my fave. I prefer Norman and Mother, lol. But here's my 2 cents. Its the eyes under the mask. They are wide and wild and berserk.  The pics I always see of him, he is more confused, and dazed. Kind of like...in a way...Karloff's Monsters eyes were. No offense intended to either of the monsters, or the gentlemen who played them intended, folks.

Leatherface had a more "puppy dog" look in his eyes. That's what makes him one of the more cuddly and lovable  slasher/cannibals. I see the comparrison with Norman Bates (they were both inspired by serial killer Ed Gein), but Leatherface is a lot more warm and fuzzy than Norman. Also, Leatherface is a pretty damn good cook. Next time you're passing through Texas, try a big bowl of the Sawyer family chili. Yum!

Just watch out for those hard pepper corns!

That's what gives it that Texas crunch.  Double yum!

Looks good, but still wish the mask didn't look angry. ;D I still think the 18 inch McFarlane one is one of the best Leatherface figures.
