Indeed, Mike, THANK YOU for the info! Being an OTR and Karloff fanatic, this is right up my alley and a fine surprise!

Both of you are welcome. I listened to the show last night. Great play, with Parker Fennelly as the main character, Gramps, not Karloff as is listed on the net. Boris has the more interesting role.  ;D

Dear Mike-

Thanks. Rand has a great site.

GREAT SCENES FROM GREAT PLAYS was produced by a wonderful charitable organization that Bernadette and I are proud to belong to, The Episcopal Actors' Guild. You folks might want to join, yourselves:

http://www.actorsguild.org/aboutus2.html

Its home is a place I know Elder Robert knows - the famous "Little Church Around The Corner," where the event that I posted the invite for this week took place. Our Annual Poetry night, where I did "Casey at the Bat," and where Auden, Yeats, and Dickenson were represented. Along with new material by its authors; an amazing gang, the Guild.

This series was intended as a NY stage compliment to LA film series like SCREEN DIRECTOR'S PLAYHOUSE - and it's every bit as polished. There are several episodes in circulation; including "A Doll's House," "Dead End," and then Guild President Walter Hampden recreating his legendary "Cyrano" (free here):

Stars included Basil Rathbone, Gertrude Lawrence, Raymond Massey, Ingrid Bergman, and Henry Fonda - whose return to the role of YOUNG MR. LINCOLN I was honored to recreate last year at FOTR (clip here):

There are more episodes available, in wonderful quality, from FGRA:

All best,

Fantastic news! Since there is so little taped or filmed footage of Karloff onstage, this is the next best thing. Thank you so much for posting this!

I found it more than a little annoying that the grand kids name was pud. :-[  Which has taken on a decidedly different meaning nowadays,..... ;)
