I'll be getting any and all that we are lucky enough to see make it into the market.

You and me both!

The Megos are a great nod to monsters of old.  The Dracula is kind of the generic looking 90's version maybe stepping towards some of the earlier Bela Jr. licensed stuff.  Doesn't look like they bothered to sculpt a ring on his hand.

That might change. These are prototypes.

Mini-Mates I'll pick up if the price is reasonable.  I missed out on the Kubriks and would never dream of paying what they go for now.  Definitely cool to get a toy line with non-monster figures.  Not only is it cool for us collectors but it's also cool for the younger set giving the toyline more playability.

SPR on the 4 packs is $15.99. There will be ToysRUs exclusive 2 packs with differing colorways and perhaps characters.

Here is a slideshow gallery so you can pan through the images, as well as a few others I didn't see posted:

I dunno, the select Creature might be better than the Sideshow version (though the Sideshow 8" and 12" have better paint schemes...no frog throat), one thing's for sure, it is far superior to the AHI version.

Curious what articulation the select will have as they don't have much on these protos. Never been much a fan of mego figs but these new ones look sweet.

There has to be somebody somewhere in a position to actually speak to Universal about that dang green jacket.  It's time for the Green Jacket Era to come to an end.

Thanks so much for posting these pics! Had fun today looking at all the upcoming monsterkid stuff!

Long live the UMA!

"type 2 mego bodies. The articulation is pretty nice on these, doing just about everything a human body can do''

EXCEPT -

- it bugs the heck out of me that NO one in the "New Mego Age" (CTVT, Cast-A-Way, Emcee) has bothered to do the ONE easy tweak that fixes Mego's main lacking:

A "Flatt" neck!!!

(Named for a legendary customizer, that's the Gi Joe/Captain Action - type neck that can swivel down like a real one, not just spin to the side like a Ken.)

Love that mummy! Dracs outfit is very nice, head needs some work.

Any word on when these might come out?

Yep, sorta. If the below info is correct, the Mego style figures should be solicited for pre-sale no later than July via the Diamond Previews catalog. Diamond's marketing plan seems to be to have the monster products ship to retail each Sept. as part of the seasonal Halloween merch push.

Quoted from a posting on the Mego Museum message board Joe Sena, president of EMCE Toys - the consultants behind most of the "Mego style" figures being released by various companies inclu. DST:

"our understanding is that 2 will be released each october: frank and wolfman in 2010, drac and mummy in 2011"

His relevant posts linked below, the whole thread is worth a read IMO:

We have Joe to thank for these and, fingers crossed, eventually a Creature!
