... As a collector myself I hate being denied the oppertunity to own something I have always wanted. I think it's safe to say that there is no way in hell Sideshow, Neca, Hot Toys or any other company is going to produce an IT figure. If things turn around there is a possibility that AT may reconsider releasing IT? Or maybe Executive Replicas may consider picking "it" up. If they go out of business your chances will most likely be zero of having anyone else consider making this figure. We work for and with these companies. I hear behind the scenes stories of the obstacles that have to be overcome. It is a wonder sometimes that anything gets made at all at the small numbers these items are produced in....
Shouldn't the research into the viability of producing the product have taken place before the purchasing of the license?? I hate to see resources invested and wasted like this. It's a shame because it hurts the company's ability to move forward with other projects, which isn't good for any of us.
Just got in after another night of the city and a day full of Toy Fair. Got to hang out with NekroDave for the first time since Creature Fest 2004, great to see him and meet his pals, the Collection DX fellows among them. Saw Mark Huckabone and talked about the Mego display boxes he just bought, the Monsters one among 'em. Walked a chunk of the lower floor of Toy Fair, saw only two UM licensed products: Neca's new bobbleheads, which are great (they're gonna release silver screen versions of the older ones btw), and Amok Time's huge Creature and Frankenstein Monster.Had a long chat with Paul at booth. Man, what a great guy, and not just because he's a monster fan who's making an absolute fantasy into toy reality. He took a chunk of time to talk about the stuff he loves and why he's doing what he's doing, as well as the biz side of it, way beyond any sort of sales pitch, and I didn't even place store orders today. He even graciously offered to open the case for photography, which you can see I accepted. The Creature and Frankenstein (resin prototypes of rotocast vinyl production pieces) are just jaw droppingly amazing. The final wholesale cost and retail price are still to be determined (it's Chinese New year right now, and the factory didn't get everything set before TF it seems, not an uncommon occurrence in my experience), but he estimated in the range we've been talking about on here, with production runs between 750 and 1000 (orders will determine that to a degree). We also spoke of the Universal license, and his flat out love of the monsters, which this project demonstrates 1000% percent. More Universal figures will come if the support for these is strong enough. The other stuff he alluded to having on the horizon is just as cool. Plus, a Horror of Party Beach 12 inch figure and Groovie Goolies statues!!!
