Personally I'd love a repro Mask Of The Red Death from Phantom , BUT, the original was most likely composition or paper mache and I would prefer fiberglass. So really it wouldn't be a true reproduction. Thats always an issue, should one strive to have a reproduction meet their display needs or be accurate? Further, should a prop repro be accurate to the actual prop or what the prop represets?

I'm surprised that no one has requested the Larry Talbot wolfs-head walking stick. That would be on the very top of my list. The Dracula candelabra was a brilliant suggestion, as well.

The Wolfman cane has been tackled several times before, but honestly, I've never seen one I was that happy with, i.e. one that actually looked like a high quality, antique silver walking stick, as seen in the close-ups in the film. Most i've seen are chrome plated, and crudely sculpted and cast with a rough, chromed finish (which is incorrect)/ Even Bob Burns' original rubber "stunt" cane head is a bit crude looking close up, when compared to the close-ups of the hero cane in the film. The actual prop is absolutely gorgeous, and reportedly still exists.

 The Dark Shadows nickel-silver cane, on the other hand (which is made by the same company that made the original prop) is of extremely high quality by comparison (and reasonably priced for what you get).

Agree with you Bob about the overall quality of the Wolf Man canes that have been produced... but I have to say I was pret-ty impressed with the cane the Chaney Family had on display (not for sale, drat them!) at Monsterpalooza '09.







Ron Chaney stood there and smiled, letting me take pics, and was so nice and friendly. "Take all you want--hopefully you can buy one if we ever get into making more of them (big wink, smile)!"

Sadly, there were a few sellers out front with some of the $100 -$140 canes that looked like silver spray-painted melted plastic.

Now that's much better than any I've seen. The wolf head/neck looks great. Besides the finish, the other part of the cane that seems to be difficult to reproduce is the geometry of the pentagram and the sculpt of the leaping wolf.

I’m almost positive that the cane the Chaneys had on display was the limited edition, sterling silver version made by Wolf’s Head Productions about a decade ago:



Just in case you can’t read the small print, the original cost was $2100.00 plus S&H. I’ve only heard of one of these ever changing hands and the price was a lot, lot more than this!

BTW, Wolf’s Head Productions (Henry Alvarez) produced this item by taking a mold of Bob Burns’ cane head and it was licensed by Universal. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t hold out much hope of finding one at a flea-market….

Wow, some great pictures.. I love the Alvarez Wolf Man cane, its certainly one of the best versions... that said it is about time for somebody new to take a stab at it don't you think 

We hope to start getting the first products out there in April/May, but our big 'coming out' party for products will be at San Diego Comic Con in July for the 4th Qtr and into 2011.

The Monster neck bolts... honestly? We had initially discounted that one as potentially too jokey, we thought people would laugh at us. We had originally envisioned a replica of the Jack Pierce prosthetic bolts/electrodes with their attached 'skin' flaps exactly as the original prostheses. Does that sound appealing?
