Boris on Suspense!!
« on: January 23, 2008, 08:57:38 PM »
I recently bought the second dvd collection of episodes of the television show Suspense, inspired by the radio show of the same name. This one has an episode starring Boris Karloff, and a very young Leslie Nielson and tells the story of Rasputin. Boris gives a wonderful performance as the mad monk. What a joy to see something that was on teevee without a logo in the bottom corner, no commercials, and no crap scrolling incessantly across the bottom of the screen!

These episodes were filmed off of a television monitor as the program aired live, but what a treasure of classic horror. There is also an episode with Bela Lugosi performing Cask of Amontillado.

Great, great stuff!!

Dear Mike-

Got Vol. 1. It is indeed fun to see the Great, and the soon-to-be-Great, in "new" stuff.

But the kines are rough, and the format doesn't date well.

RADIO's "Suspense" still takes the prize. And I'm not an "anti-TV" guy; The Wife and I are enjoying some old ONE STEP BEYONDs a lot.

Best,
-Craig W.
