Creepy Glo-Forms - anyone know about these?
« on: September 29, 2009, 04:16:51 AM »
I just came across an interesting Colorforms-type play thing. Can anyone tell me more about these? I'd love to find a set. Is it rare?

Wow, that is AWESOME. I've never seen that before, and I like colorforms. My favorite, of course, is the Castle Dracula Funhouse set. The artwork here looks earlier. It looks very 1960s. I'll be following this thread to see if anybody can tell you about them.

Look along the bottom edge of the box art: it is a Colorforms!

I do remember them.  1960s vintage.  I wanted a set but ended up with Batman instead because my parents figured I was more familiar with Batman (from the Adam West series) and would appreciate it more.

There's a Frankenstein's lab styled set named "Create a Monster" with similar art work. I think both were released in '64, but don't hold me to that.

I've become kind of obsessed with this set. It's just beautiful in its simplicity. Nobody really had any info (other than it's a Colorforms set, likely from the 60s) and I can't find anything about it online. Does anybody here own one of these sets?

HHwolfman just picked up the Create a Monster kit and posted pics:

As far as more info, I think these two cartoon kits and the Monster Print Putty were Colorforms attempts to get in on the monster craze of the '60s. No idea about the designers or artists on these, but would love to know.

That is cool!  I used to have the Castle Dracula's Funhouse set too.  I seen one on Ebay a week ago for like 200 dollars!  I would like to get another but 200 dollars is a little much I think.
Long live the UMA!

They rarely sell for that much money.

I am 51 and had the Creepy Glow Forms play set as a child.  Most of my toys came out of a cereal box except for this set.  We never had much when we were young and this was so special to me, until the day I came home from school and it was threw out and the trash men came.  :(   It is a sentimental item and would love to buy it if it ever comes up for sale.  If anyone sees one of these on the internet please remember me.   Thanks to all!

That's horrible! Parents are ofen so dumb!

 :o

Hopefully if and when you find one again, you tell your parents how much you had to pay to replace the one they threw out.
