Kaskits and Spook'ems by Therin of Andor, on Flickr

A set now complete! For those who've been following my Kooky Spooky adventure over the last year or so, here is my customized Mama Kaskit "Kooky Spooky" (far left) meeting... the real thing: a recent eBay "Buy it now" find. She arrived this morning.

To the right is a little guy I've renamed Little Formaldehyde, with customized death rattle (both concepts mooted by Patti Petacolas in her notes). He is meeting a pristine Baby Spook'em, complete with mint condition "Help" sign, thanks to the same eBay seller. (On the back, the sign reads "Boo!")

Looks like I'll have to add at least one more slide to my PhotoPeach slideshow.

UPDATE: 2021:
PhotoPeach has ended, due to the discontinuation of "Flash". So I have had to move my slideshow to my Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/GlowingGhosts/

It will hopefully be visible at:

She had always seemed to be available mint-in-box, never loose, if/when I was notified of a Mama turning up on eBay. And always very expensive.

What puts you off M.I.B. specimens? Just the higher price or something else as well?

Toys should be free of their cardboard and plastic sarcophaguses! If I'd bought a Mama Kaskit mint-in-mint-box, I'd have had to remove her, to join her family, no matter the huge amount paid. I used to keep lots of my toys' boxes (from the 80s, 90s and 00s - we never thought to do that in 1969), but I've simply run out of room for all that packaging - and the stored boxes were getting putrid with dust in my garage under the house.

Also, many MIMB Kooky Spookys have "melt marks" where hands and noses have had 40+ years have been in contact with 1969-vintage acetate windows.

That's awesome! I still need to whip up a few of my own, using the glow-in-the-dark Fimo ... if I ever get over to Hobby Lobby, that is.

Approx 2/3 Nightglow FIMO to 1/3 Lemon FIMO. My Mama's heart-shaped cheeks were tiny crimson split-pin paper-fasteners from a stationery store. I decided using them was better than trying to paint tiny hearts freehand with a one-hair brush, though I'm still amazed the eyes and hair turned out so well. A small cookie cutter gave me the flower-power sign's shape, mounted on a wooden skewer.

That's also my thinking on the Marx figures anyway, even the glow-in-the-dark Uncle Milton recasts. I want the fellows to all stand freely beside each other!

I wouldn't think of assembling any of my M.I.B. vintage model kits though. That's what reissues are for!

My 1969 newspaper comics section eBay win has arrived! So exciting! It has four, not two, ads for Kooky Spookys in the centre liftout:

No. If you scroll back through my pics you'll see that my haunted house is a half-size reproduction on A4 photographic paper, made from an online printout found at http://www.undermountain.org/HauntedHouse.html

Well then I'd suggest you first photocopy the ad, cut the coupon out from the photocopy, fill it in and send the required remittance into the Chicago Tribune.

I was inspired to set up a family reunion pic as Halloween approaches.

Hi all,

PhotoPeach, which hosted my "Kooky Spooky" slideshow, had a terrible crash and lost 50% of subscribers' data. Luckily, the captions were retained, so recreating the slideshow today, with a few new additions, was not impossible.

Great stuff! I still have my original Bro' Mortimer. I lost his banjo, but managed to find one on ebay many years ago for way too much money.  Still, it was a thrill to reunite them after all these years...
