Does anyone remember Monster Baseball Cards? Roth-style?
« on: January 11, 2008, 02:00:23 PM »
In the 70's, I would say 1974 or 75, I recall having a pack of sticker cards--monster baseball players.  Clearly Big Daddy Roth-inspired or maybe maybe he did them.  But I can't remember what these cards were called.  Anyone know the name of these things so I can look for them?

I don't suppose it was Fleer's "Baseball Weird-Ohs" from 1966?

It could have been.  Were there subsequent series where the artwork changed, maybe the paintings became more detailed?  Because I seem to remember a richer style in these cards.  Definitely, the ones I remember were available in the mid-70's.

Donruss put out the Baseball Super Freaks and Baseball's Greatest Grossouts. Those were done by B. K. Taylor, the same artist who did the Odd Rods Stickers. I picked up a box of Baseball's Greatest Grossouts awhile ago so I have extras if you're interested.

Yeah yeah yeah--I am pretty sure it was baseball super freaks!    They look about right, I saw some scans of these.  Y'see, I mainly wanted to know what they were called, and now I can search for them and maybe grab one or two (and maybe even the ones I recall having).  Thanks!!
