When was the last time any company worldwide has released new monster jigglers? Or any jigglers period? And i'm not talking the lame squishy imperial animal jiggler like toys at walmart.

They were super popular during the 60's, 70's and 80's. But do you guys ever see them coming back?

I'm kinda surprised none were released in Japan or China over the past years.

I have many of the old school jigglers. My 7 year old son loves them, i feel bad i cant just bring him in a store to pick out his own.

I have to respect Imperial for continuing the jiggler tradition.  They have been a leader in jigglers for 40 years.  They found a way to make jigglers contemporary by filling them with those obnoxious pellets.  They have given us two sets of monster jigglers in recent years – a Univiersal licensed set and a pretty cool generic set.  They make insects, reptiles, dinos and other creepy creatures.  They've made jigglers of Chucky and King Kong.  And all of these are available at drug stores and grocery stores, where they should be.  You don't have to pay $50 for the privilege of owning a special limited edition Chucky jiggler, purchased over the Internet.  You just go to Walgreens and throw one in your cart, right next to your toothpaste and deodorant.

Solid rubber jigglers are still out there, but you have to go off the beaten path to find them.  Carnival supply stores have them.  Any store that sells odd novelty items is likely to have some.  You see them around Halloween time.  But they are made in China now and the rubber is more rigid than the oily ones we grew up with.

I've heard that the rise in oil prices spelled the end of the classic jigglers.  A lot of toys are made with oil, so I'm not sure how true that is.  But that could explain why Imperial switched to hollow, pellet-filled jigglers.  More pellets means less rubber.

I think the switch from Hong Kong plants to China factories might have had an impact.  Different facilities, different people, different ways of doing things.  Maybe the production model that works in Hong Kong doesn't work so well in China.

Dont get me wrong on Imperial. They did make cool monster rubber toys. frankenstein, wolfman and so on. But every year its the same set of monsters, same exact design, body and so on. I was wondering more so if we would ever again see a company start up the jigglers like the " Spooky Kooky line material, or de-horribles. I check cvs & walmart often, never found any.

A lot of toys are made with oil . . .

Anything made of plastic is made from oil.

Did Imperial ever release their Hellboy II figure last year, or was it promo only? I'd love it if they'd rerelease the UM figures with glow for this Halloween.

Even though there are some jigglers and rubber creatures to be had, I dont think will ever be the same as it used to be. I used to love it when I could slap a quater in a machine and get a cool rubber bat or rat out of a machine.

I didn't even know Imperial was supposed to release a Hellboy figure.  That would be pretty cool.  I haven't seen one.

Ray, I'm confused.  I thought Hong Kong is in China?

So that makes me wonder.  If a product is made in Hong Kong today, is it stamped "made in China?"  I think there is a perception that "made in China" products are made in mainland China.  But maybe stuff that used to be made in Hong Kong is still made in the same factories, except the stamp has changed.  But it seems like there is a physical difference in these novelty items that coincides roughly with the switch from "made in Hong Kong" to "made in China."

I'm not sure what would be stamped on them, but the factories on Mainland China are more likely to be newer.  That may account for some of the mfg differences.
