Sam Elliot makes a great cowboy

I have to mention Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones for "Lonesome Dove" one of the best westerns made.

I'll send that one. Sams a great western actor. Been a fan of his for years. Def. a fan of almost all the Larry Mc Murtry stuff.

To list only 5 would be impossible. I love a good western with gun play from various era's. Johnny Mack Brown ,Bob Steele , Randolph Scott to Lee Van Cleef , Clint Eastwood Sam Elliot and as mentioned Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday.
I own several dozen westerns so it would be hard to chose. I will say tho that the big gunfight in Open Range is one of the best if not THE best I have seen.
