The Guardian newspaper in the UK ran a contest for kids to draw monsters/creatures of their own design.  I know that as a young lad, I made up all sorts of monsters, as did my friends...  and many of you probably dis as well.  I found it interesting what kids today created as their monsters.  Now of course, these are only the top 20 winning entries as judged by the newspaper editor or whomever they used to select the winners, but nonetheless, it was a fun read for me and I hope for you as well.  Enjoy!

Cute stuff, it brought back memories of when I was a kid.

Great link, thanks... Some pretty interesting ideas there. Of course, I hate the Hair Gobbler most...  :D

I like how one monster sucks brains, but his bad habit is spitting...

I just came across a bunch of drawings I made when I was 4 and 5 years old.  Most of the drawings are monsters - I even made a Famous Monsters book at age 4!  That was really neat to see again.  When I got to pre-school, they tried to get me to draw things other than monsters, but even the bunny rabbits looked like monter rabbits.  I guess I've always had this monster-obsession and always will...

Aw, so cute! Those kids really have some great concepts. Thanks for sharing this, it brought a smile to my face!

Andy, you need to scan some of those and share ;)

My scanner is down at the moment but I'm in the process of getting that done.  It's just amazing to me that these things survived; given that everything else - apparently even the pictures - is long gone.  These things are my most valued treasures for sure.
