What Is Your Fave Big Screen Comedy??
« on: May 27, 2009, 04:44:14 PM »
I'm sure we switch off of monsters sometimes for a good laugh. What are some movies you find yourself laughing at as if it were the 1st time you've seen it? Personally, I have quite a few..but to start with I'll share the 5 comedies that I dont think I could live without when I need a laugh.

Anchorman.  I quote this movie constantly..when I'm getting ready to go out.."60% of the time, it works everytime."

Spies Like Us. I think this is probably the most underrated comedy EVER. The "test" scene alone is worth the price of the dvd.

A Christmas Story. Prob one of my fave non-monster movies ever..."but it wasnt fudge, it was the F--- word." Classic.

Beverly Hills Cop. Comedy/Action I guess, I love this movie and still hum the theme regularly. "We're not gonna fall for the bannana in the tail pipe trick".

#1 Without a doubt is.....Caddyshack! Do I even need to quote anything, or say anything about this movie???

Duck soup and any Laurel and hardy film,  modern films I would go with Airplane. "Whys that table set for four? Thats nothing I have my alarm set for eight". "A horse can be brought to water but a pencil must be lead".

Some good choices there and throw me in the Marx Bros. pile.  I'll add BLAZING SADDLES and IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD.  Let's throw in some Abbott & Costello too.

The first two that come to mind happen to be monster related:  A&C Meet Frankenstein and Ghostbusters.

Gotta agree with "Caddyshack".  Also "Animal House", the original "Producers", "Serial" still funny after 20 plus years, and it has Christopher Lee....

Any of the Guest/Levy works (Waiting For Guffman, A Mighty Wind, Best In Show, For Your Consideration... and yes Illoman, Spinal Tap!).

No Time For Sergeants. Just incredibly funny.

The Great Race.

Any Laurel & Hardy. Our Gang. Harold Lloyd.

I'll often have DVD marathons of The Andy Griffith Show.

2 great ones! I love anything that has to do with old SNL...as far as I'm concerned Dan Aykroyd is a genius. I think it is pretty official we wont be seeing Ghostbusters III...which stinks. At least the resurgance and intrest in the new toys is good news.

A&C Meet Frankenstein could probably have an entire section on this forum alone. I think this movie was my introduction to monsters and where I was initially bitten by the bug. If I watched A&C on "mute" I think I would still laugh :)

You've listed some good ones.  Planes, Trains and Automobiles.   40 Year Old Virgin, because it has Monster Toys!
