Hey Kevin!  Thanks for joining!  I understand about the temptation and reservation around opening pacakges on vintage toys to complete a colorway.  How many different colors do they come in, and do the robots and aliens come in different materials?  I remember the robots and spaceships I got from McDonalds were a soft rubber, while all the aliens (as well as mythological monsters that Diener made, such as the centaur and Medusa) were a much harder, almost pvc material.

Welcome,

Shannon

Yeah, The Space Raiders are soft and The Space Creatures are hard. There are 8 colors of each: Blue, Brown, Pink, Yellow, Orange, Dark Green, Light Green and Light Gray. I know those carded ones look red, but they're orange, and there are bootlegs in other types of plastic that are made in even more colors. It's been kinda hard trying to get all 8 colors of all 16 figures, and that Ebay link in that megomuseum post http://megomuseum.com/community/showpost.php?p=77268&postcount=12 went unsold because he keeps using the same picture every time he auctions the Space Raiders. I already bought the batch in that picture from him and have asked him if each new batch is in different colors, because he is still using the same picture of the old auction. Anyway, I haven't recieved any responses so it goes unsold. This thread here and the one at megomuseum will probably attract new collectors and make it harder to complete my set, but that's OK, because I'm pretty low on funds right now anyway. Since 12 of the 16 figures have been identified as knock-offs of established characters, I'll bet those remaining 4, the space ships, are as well. I'd love to know from what, though.

Kevin, I have no idea what those vehicles are from, but I agree that it's very likely that they are from something and not just made up. I'll post the link at some of the robot boards I go to and see if anyone there recognizes them. I knew the Getter 1 immediately, but had to ask on the Robocon stuff since it's not my cup of tea. ;)  I can try to dig up pictures of the original characters too, if you'd like.

That would be great about posting on the robot boards Thanks! While you're at it, do you think you could see if any of them know where these guys come from too? I've had them since the early 80's but don't remember what they are.

As for images of the Getter 1 and Robocon guys, I already Googled them and got a bunch of pics. Thanks!
