I have that figure. So I guess the one offered on Ebay is not the only one around !?!?
I found it in a vintage toy shop in Tokyo 3 years ago. I paid around 5000 Yens  ( 73 USD more or less ) if I remember correctly.
I'm a ( casual) King Kong (... and  monsters stuff in general ! ) collector for around 20 years and never seen another one before.
I have a fair knowledge of what was available in Japan, as part of the Bullmark and Mego line and was really thrilled to find something I didn't know existed !
I still don't know if it's a prototype or if it was released only in some area of Japan as it was sometimes the case with some toys back then, making it hard to locate.
It might also have been one of the last Kong toy released by Bullmark and offered in fewer quantities than the wind up or the standard vinyl figure of the same type ?
I don't know how to post pictures on the forum but will be glad to do it if anyone can help me with that.

First you need to upload your photos to the internet.  You can use a service like Flickr or Photobucket.  Then you insert it in your post by clicking the image button above the text box.  When you type a post, directly above the text box you will see a bunch of round yellow faces called emoticons.  Above them, you will see a row of gray boxes.  The second box from the left is the image button.  Click that and it will insert img brackets into your post.  There will be a cursor between the img brackets.  That is where you need to paste the URL location of the image.  You can find the image location URL by right-clicking on the image and selecting "copy image location."  If all this sounds too complicated, just e-mail the images to me at raycastile(at)aol.com and I'll upload them for you.

Unbelievable! Thanks for uploading those. This thread sure keeps getting more interesting and coincidental...  Glad I found this place. And I'll offer you at least a 300% profit, Shruken Ed!:) Haha.

Sadly, I used to own the production sculpt this toy was based on. It was different than what was sent to theaters. It had a rocky base, and I added a custom Jessica Lange figure, and new paint. A pretty nasty biking injury prevented me from working for a few months, so I had to be a grown up and sell some treasures. Major Bummer, I wish I'd never parted with it. Everything else shoud have went before Kong -- I had comedic visions of me stumbling around one day with just a sleeping bag, clutching the thing and muttering to myself like Steve Martin in the Jerk!:) **sigh** Maybe I'll get it back oneday.

**I'll try to post pics below, but will take them down tomorrow . I do not have a flickr account, so if someone could kindly save, reup and repost it would be greatly appreciated.**

P.s. Pics removed now, and reupped 2 posts down by NekroDave. Many Thanks Dave, that was fast!

Wow, thanks very much for posting those, guys! So, from 0 we've got to at least 3, maybe 4 different versions of this toy.  The one on Ebay (which is different from your in it's paint spray so still possibly the only of it's kind, one with a red painted chest (again, if the seller is accurate), your (which looks like it has an unpainted chest) and the version without the disc launcher.

This toy is now definitely high up on my (non-Jumbo Machinder) want list. If you don't mind, I'm gonna steal those pics and start asking around about it. Before no one I knew was aware of it. But now that's it's known to be out there, maybe I can get some people looking under some rocks and hopefully turn up something. Actually, it's starting to make me want the little walker now too... lol.

Oh cool, I didn't see you pics before my last post went up. That's really neat. Major drag that you had to sell it though. I'll re-post the pics for ya.

Here's another toy I just now came across. It's a mini-vinyl so probably about 3-4" tall and I'm not even 100% sure it's meant to represent Kong, but the face does look like the Bullmark we've been talking about. But I think it may be made by Marusan? I'm not sure. Apparently, it's pretty rare, but a friend of mine might actually own it. But he's at SDCC now so I'll contact him about it next week.

Btw, this has nothing to do with anything, but a discussion about a vinyl toy and a mention of the Jerk makes me think of it. My friend loves glow in the dark vinyl kaiju and kept posting pictures of his new purchases. Another friend who did not collect vinyl starting calling him a jerk for making the second friend want to buy them. So I suggested we photoshop his head onto the poster art. Here he is lugging around glow Gezora and Hedorah toys. Cracks me up every time I see it....

He looks cool, and another fun discovery. Would love to see a larger shot of the little guy.

The face and nose here kind of looks like the Berkey poster art was a cue.
Greeeaat. Now I'm looking for two items! Monkey madness in this thread.

OK, that mini Kong I posted is probably not really meant to be Kong officially. It's apparently from a Japanese show called "Chiisa na Superman Ganbaron" (which is apparently a knockoff of, you guessed it, Superman, so they may well be "aping" Kong, too). That figure comes on a blister card with 4 other mini vinyl figures from the show.

And two and a half months later....

As you can see, I also managed to snag a couple of Bullmark King Kong yo-yos! Unfortunately, I lost out on a the regular, non-spinner version not long after. There was something else that I was more interested in ending the next day and I didn't want to spend too much and risk losing the other thing. I lost it anyway. :(

Oh yeah, I guess I should tell the unusual tale of how I got this guy so cheap. A seller listed it as "Takara King Kong" without the word Bullmark in the title and a very low starting bid. So I offered him $100 to end it early and sell to me. He said no. OK, I'll bid. The next day, he added "Bullmark" to the description. Crap, that won't help....

Then, suddenly, the auction was gone.

Almost immediately, he re-listed it as "Rubber Gorilla"! WTF?!? I have no idea why he did that, but....

I ended up winning it at under $20.  ;D

You offered him $100, and he ended up making less than $20 on it?

To quote Charlie Brown, "Good grief."

Congratulations on snagging him so quickly and so cheaply! I'm always happy when people are able to find what they're looking for. Especially in such a rare case as this.
